What's the best satnav allowing for towing a caravan in Europe?
One that won't send you down dead-end, narrow lanes or non existant roads.
Please don't bother to respond with the merry japes of:
The wife with an atlas.
A written list based on four hours of careful research.
Memory
et al
Be useful if it had campsites (I know I could add Archie's)
Cheap petrol stations indicated?
etc etc etc

You can get some that you program in your vehicle dimensions so it doesn't send you the wrong way. Probably same as trucks use.
We use maps as well.A Michelin atlas of France is good so you can look at the roads.
Being older we managed with maps and A to Z books for cities.

I successfully toured both in the UK and Abroad using a TomTom with their camper maps installed. Given that I have a built in TomTom sat nav in my motorhome which is next to useless when it comes to avoiding narrow roads I wonder if the brand has deteriorate over the years? Some speak highly of Co-Pilot which I might try on my tablet. Annual subscription though.
I use Pro Drive which I bought from EBay for £85. You can put the size of you vehicle including Caravan ( trailer) the total weight of both. It has never taken me down any unsuitable roads, it has Archie’s campsites in, to find a site just put the area in and it will list all sites in the area. This is the second one I’ve had, and had no problems apart from NEC when I put the wrong destination in.
I have used it in the U.K. France and Spain.

I have a Garmin Camper 760, I have never used it abroad, I also had a Tom Tom previously, they are by no means perfect, Thirsk to Pickering takes you onto Sutton Bank which is caravan prohibited
100% Tomtom camper, I had the Garmin version which was rubbish the Tomtom one you put your dimensions in and off you go, the live traffic is unbelieveably accurate
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
