is there a 'standard' hosepipe connection on French sites for fresh water taps?

Are you referring to serviced pitches with their own water tap? If so any I have been on have had the usual "hozelock" type of threaded tap.

The Hozelock threaded tap connector comes with a white screw-in insert. This has to be removed to fit most UK threaded taps, but I have found I have needed to use the white insert to fit French screw taps.
