Our Reich Motor Mover was making a lot of squealing noise when we put the van away in storage last year and so am having it service with the caravan next week. But, I have noticed that the rollers on one of the wheels are not placed centrally on the tyre when engaged and so are only really pushing on half the tyre. This, I think, may be at the heart of the problem rather than just an issue with lubrication.
As the Mover was fitted to our new van by the dealer, I want to go in next week armed with some knowledge. So, can any of you kind people tell me if there an adjustment that can be made to make it push fully onto the tyre?
the base of the rollers should be the same height on each side.is it possible one may have caught a kirb or large stone as said in the film the rollers shown are dead centre of the wheel.
good video.

------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
I'd be interested to know the outcome or your squealing reich mover.
Ours (Move Control Comfort) whines annoyingly when in operation, even when the rollers are away from the wheels.
I've used silicon spray to lubricate the half shell rubber pads that push the roller onto the tyre without success.
ours creaks like mad in spite of lubrication to various components. it also seems to have a blind spot where it loses the signal from the remote....most annoying.
Hi Keith, we have a Reich MM which doesn't sit flush on the wheel. The base of the drive rod remains against the motor. When you brace the drive rod out against the wheel, only the end of the drive rod moves out to the wheel. Mine has recently had to be refitted as the drive rod came off and wrapped itself under the wheel. Luckly I moved the van the night before we were due to leave.
It took me three hours to climb under the van and cut the entire unit from the chassis. I had to do this as the pressure placed on the holding bracket bolts due to the drive shaft being caught under the wheel was such that the were rounding off when trying to loosen.
When I spoke to Reich at the NEC about this the chap was really helpfully and said that the only way this could happen was if the retaining bolt and bush worked their way free during operation, but that this was very rare.
I returned and took a closer look and sure enough this is what had happened. Under the red green indication sticker you will find the head of the bolt that holds the bush and therefore the driverod in place.
I suspect that the units were set incorrectly in as much as when tightening to the green shows in the case of my van this meant much too much pressure against the wheel and therefore the bush, putting pressure against the bolt and therefore unwinding as the shaft turned in a particular direction.
If you have the same unit as us thus could account for the noise possibly?

Thanks for a very interesting reply. I am waiting to hear from the dealer to see if they have identified the issue. Will update all when I know more.
Mine squeaks as well.as you wind the rollers into contact with the tyre the very end part with the red/green indicator rubs on the tyres. Try putting a little wd40 on the tyre at the contact point, not on the rollers, cured my squeak
At last an end to this tale. I went to collect the caravan after its service and the problem with the mover squeaking remained! The dealer charged us £50 for the mover service but, after a little polite pressure from us, refunded this in full. He gave me some story about a bearing that was dry and difficult to grease. Must admit that they had adjusted the roller and is now in the correct position.
Two phone calls made to Reich, who were very helpful. Their first suggestion was that a pin along the driveshaft could have become dislodged and was catching- this was not the case. Then, the obvious was suggested- was there a stone lodged in between the shroud that covers the unit and the roller. On inspection, I found a rather large piece of stone that had been drawn into the cowl surrounding the roller assembly. It took quite a lot of effort to dislodge it using long-nose pliers and a bit of force from the mover to force it out but I have got it out and the noise has gone. It must have been drawn into the roller only when reversing.
Now, why didn't the person supposedly able to service it, spot that?
Our Reich mover is a squeeky Bu**er too, also refuses to work if you wind the rollers too tight onto the tyre, it prefares a fairly gentile pressure. Ours gets serviced annually with the main service for £25 extra, and yes, it hates stones from the hardstanding CC pitches ect, and we often spend time with a bit of stick poking these out whilst on site.
It also eats penlight batteries by the packet in the handset, we get though a new packet for every trip out we do, a total of 4 uses each time.

I wonder if you have the original version of the handset? The button on that one stuck out of the casing and, as a consequence, was easily switched on and off all the time by accident- either in its case or when stored in the glove box.
I made a simple cover for the button using a cap from a plastic bottle, with a bit of duct tape to keep it in place. This completely solved the problem!
Later, I had a replacement circuit board and new handset, under Reich's excellent warranty and they have re-designed it to prevent the problem. See if this works?
