My van is parked at home on my drive and my son has just called me and told me that 2 men have just knocked at my house and told him that they have spoken to me and told him that they have just bought the caravan for £600 pound and have come to pick it up and offered him the money.
My son told them to go away and that the van was not for sale.
I have been out all day so am not at home, so I am a bit concerned.
Maybe I'm too late with this. Since your son is not alone, if they come back he should (either himself or one of his mates) wander outside and make a note of the reg.number colour/make/model of the vehicle these two guys are driving. The cops can quickly trace them and maybe see if there is evidence to tie them to any other caravan robberies .....
If you have time and the equipment it might be an idea to pop the van up on some axle stands and take the wheels off for a while. Stick the wheels in the house so they are not easy to get to in a shed ect.
Even I you could get one wheel off and up on some blocks but remember to remove the spare. The reckoning in my thoughts is to make it as difficult and time consuming to get the van moving even flower planters and wheelie bins in front of the van can make them think twice thief's want a quick in and out I have a heavy chain and padlock wrapped around the alko hitch you are going to need a grinder to get it off.
DO report it to the police or some other unsuspecting person may lose theirs off the drive and the police will think it's a one-off instead of organised gits, sorry, thieves.
