Hi, has anyone experienced this problem ..?? If so how did you sort it out ???..... We bought our 2007 baily randger 510 in October, it had been dry stored but not used for a few years.. Since march we have been getting a smell, which I can only liken it to a gas smell.. We have disconnected and taken away the gas bottle, so no gas leakage, the van is bone dry no damp... I spend my new occupation as a sniffer dog...lol. Sniffing at everything.. I have taken away everything we have put in and washed it all over..people have suggested the drains, no smell coming up through plug hole...we used the van for 3 day last week and have flushed water through, any help !!! This smell is driving me mad :/
have you checked every cupboard and hidey hole for a dead rodent or hedgehog ,every part of the chassis .the only real answer is to empty it completely and check thoroughly till you find it
check fridge for the smell,if left for a long time they can smell pretty bad.also smell base of fridge you may have spilled milk on the floor at some time not knowing.possible the drain is the main culpric in this hot weather, strong bleach will sort it out.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
Try giving the carpets a clean it could be something nasty was spilled some time ago and was not dried up properly at the time. Also check around the loo it again may be that it was not emptied in time and some spillage had got under the holding tank box that is behind the loo seat.
I had a simular problem with my last caravan that had not been used for a while, and traced it back to the toilet cassette which had been left with some water in,when I flushed it through, it was all black and smelly

A hedgehog? Prey tell how a hedgehog can get in? Unless it is crossed with a mouse?
If there is a will there's a way, like someone said, it could be your drainage system, a good dollop of bleach and some boiling water down the hole, should clear the smell away. Happy camping, without the smells.

Carefull with boiling water it could cause damage to the old little waste pipes.
Think I've traced the smell in my van (see bad smell thread). I've had the carpets out today fabreze plus air has them smelling lovely. If that fails the Vax comes out next. Also make sure to clean out plumbing, my next job!
------------- I went to the top of the mountain...and looked over the other side!
Thanks all, believe me all your suggestion will be followed up, have been to van today, and have flushed with boiling water and loads of thick strong bleach.will be leaving in until tomorrow...invited visitors today, to see if they could locate the smell... Lol (smelling party ). But no, one could find the cause.. We looked in every nook and cranny, nothing !! Dead or alive.. Flushed out toilet cassett also.. Our next step will be to lift the carpets, and take them away... It was quite a sight to see 4 adults, either crawling around, with nose down sinks /showers/toilets/ fridge and cooker... The smell isn't rotten eggs jeff, different to. That..:/
