Hi,

Just wondered did reich make pumps for thetford toilets?

I removed the pump from my theftord toilet yesterday and wrote down the number on the bottom of th pump when i got home i googled the number and it came up with a reich pump in germany. Now a bit confused as i thought i had a C2 toilet. Can anyone help.

I know that Reich made pumps for the 12 volt water supply (that fit in the Aquaroll) so there's a strong possibility that they exported other pumps for the industry as well. Although Thetford make toilets they most probably buy each and every item from a different manufacturer then assemble the complete toilet unit then sell to the various caravan and motorhome manufacturers.

Yep, the pumps used by Thetford in the early 90's were Reich. Not sure who makes them now as not had need to change one for a few years.

yes but the pump make is not important providing it can cope with the task ie.strong enough to deliver as you need it.

They should but the Reich pump has a slightly different body shape to most others and the bracket that holds it in the correct place within the tank is shaped to take that specific pump.   I had to fit a whale pump in an emergency and that required judicious quantities of P40 to get it to fit the bracket. Also make sure that the outlets are the same size as they do vary a bit between manufacturers. With enough effort and bodge it you can make most pumps fit but the Reich ones make life a lot easier. Make sure you cut the old power wires as close to the pump as possible and heatshrink the connections when fitting the new pump (its a lot easier to do with a long piece of wire to work with).
