sorry to open yet another thing about porch awnings but I am doing anyway. lol.

I have been using a sunncamp ultima 260 for 3 seasons now and I know some people slate them but I have been very satisfied. No leaks and easyish to put up on my own. However due to health problems I need it to be as easy to erect as possible. (i use screw pegs and my drill for the pegs)

I am wondering if anyone has one of the porch awnings with a single bar that just angles out away  from the caravan. eg Outdoor revolution porchlite square porch awning or the sunncamp contempo (which is larger and has 2 bars) both these awnings are in the UKCS shop.

has anyone got an awning of this design and if so are you happy with it?

thanks

I have an O.R Techlite One pole awning in teal blue/grey for sale at a reasonable price, used once from new, but a poor fit for our van as it fouls the kitchen window and prevents it opening. it was abit of a silly panic buy the first week we bought our van, we just got a bit carried away by the exitement of it all.

Its just sitting in my spare room unused now, so open to any reasonable offer.

easy to put up and up til now i have not had any problems with it, contempo looks good to.

We have just bought the Suncamp Swift. Used it first time last week. Quick & easy to put up, and not a bad size for a porch. It doesn't have the upright poles to keep it pinned back to the van like the 260 we also have, but does it's job.I can see us using the swift a lot more than the 260, It's a lot lighter too.

We have had the Sunncamp 260 and 390 and have now have a Kampa 390. The saying that "you get what you pay for" is certainly true in this case. The material is far superior to the others and its a piece of cake to erect without huffing and puffing to get it sealed down the edge of the van. The adjustable legs make it so simple.

You seem to be happy with the sunncamp ultima as I am with mine.  I have tried others and come back to this design.  Yes you can pay more for a heavier material if you feel you need it, but I have used mine in fairly severe conditions and not had a problem.  Personally I have no idea why you might need a porch awning hermetically sealed to a van--you are going to get a throughflow of air anyway via mudwalls wheel scirt etc.!

Save your money and wait until you need to replace your existing awning.

Brian

I agree Brian but I am looking purely at ease of putting up. like you I am not worried about the edges down the caravan. Not had any problem myself.

I have a porchlite square, and a sunncamp 260 (and a full awning - you can never have too many!)The porchlite is very easy to put up but not very big. We only use ours in winter so it gives a bit of shelter for storing chairs and kicking boots off etc. There is enough room for a couple of chairs and a small table. I find that it stands up to put bad weather far better than the 260, we have used in very strong winds with no problems. Riversway leisure do their own for £65 which looks uncannily similar and I am sure I have seen the porchlite for the same price on the tinterweb.

Hi Stevo1 just bought this years model of the ?http://www.awnings.co.uk/2010-sunncamp-swift.html , no change form last year. Used it for the first time last weekend. Thought it was brilliant for the money and our needs. The only thing I could not get right was the edges against the caravan. Any hints on how to get a better fit ?

Hi Bob,

You could try these & find somewhere to tie them to.

Hope it helps..

Well I bought a sunncamp swift in the end and have used it for a week in Sandringham. I was very happy with it and so easy to erect. We didnt have any weather to speak of,no strong wind or rain so we will see what happens when we do.

Steve I use those klingon things for the skirt around the awning they are very handy things

We have a O.R Techlite 1 with 1 pole and its a doddle to put up 10 to 15 minutes.. I also have back problems so erecting a full awning is a bit of a pain. We have had no problems with the Techlite, its rooms light weight and fits well to our Adria Altea.
