Hi All

Im in the process of selling my Swift Corniche 14/4 and had a foreign chap come and look at it earlier. We had an anomoly with the chassis number and I hope somebody on here may be able to shed some light on it.

So, on the A Frame it has a number laid out like this 87 ****** (the stars are numbers, im not putting them on here). Im assuming the 87 denotes its age and the final numbers are its unique chassis number? Then on the chassis under the left front window is a plate, this is quite badly oxidized and after a quick rub down you can just about make out 4 numbers embossed in it, these numbers are etched into the plastic windows but they dont match the number in the A frame. At some point there was paint and writing on this plate but this is long gone.

The prospective purchaser would like to use the caravan over here for a year then return it to his homeland, but with customs and all the hoops he has to go through he doesnt want any hiccups and needs to know what these numbers relate to.

Does anyone have any idea.

Thanks a lot

Wayne

Greetings,

Assuming that the numbers on the A Frame are distinct might I suggest giving Swift a ring.
At least you are dealing with a Company that is still extant and not one that Swift took over or one that went to 'The wall'.

If they don't know then I don't know who will.

Swift from 1983, the first two digits denote the year so 87 is what yours is, the rest is the vans serial number not chassis number which may well be different?

Is then the chassis aluminum? which if it is, would have been made by Syspal and Glasses gives no info on how they marked their production, but, 4 digits covers a lot of production!
