Our 1st adventure after months of waiting for the car with the tow bar was Easter ....ermm eventfull...after having problems removing the locks on the wheels...and trying to get the motor mover working Hour and half later we get moving..to arrive on site only to get stuck !! Eventually we manage to get set up...electric on ..electric flush not working and been new to us we kept putting hot water boost on ...WHY isnt the heating working ..its cold...to top it all the weekend was full of my grandaughters dance competition and we were out from 7am till 10pm..only to receive a call from our next site which we were moving to on the monday for them to tell us ...sorry you cant come we still have 6" of snow... oooeerrr..find another site ..quick.... any way we sussed the hot water boost... and the flush started working ..(only after a call from OH saying he had took toilet apart ...joking thank god )... Monday arrived ..time to move ..HELP ! Jockey wheel fell off..over wound by a helpfull friend...good job it landed on the tow ball...Jockey wheel in the car off we trot.... next site ..Ebury Hill ..lovely site and will return...manage to get jockey wheel back on and to be honest week passed with no drastic goings on ..other than the water and pump not always pumping water but after a bit of 'wiggling' all was well.... our first week ended with loads of laughs..loads of stress..lol and we are doing it all again tmrw...off to Hopleys...is it any good ??

So much easier to set up and it doesn't matter about he weather.Mind you we keep on buying all sorts of things, it's like starting all over again.lol

So you had a Caravan 8 yrs ago, I bet things have changed since then ?
Have fun where ever you you go.

I remember our first trip, we had a similar experience to you, I was ready to pack caravanning in before it had really begun! However, after a couple more trips and learning from my mistakes I got my head around how things worked and I started to enjoy it alot more, even the towing! We have had some great holidays, stick with it, I am sure that your next outing will get easier, alot more enjoyable and relaxing.
Vonc, i think if we're honest most of us have similar stories to tell of our 1st ever camping trip be it in a tent or caravan.
apparantly i can be quite amusing to watch when things go wrong but i console myself with the knowledge that even the most experienced campers can have off days so why should i be any different
but when we look back on the holidays we've had thus far , formerly in tents but latterly in caravans, theres always been something funny or some minor catastrophy to remember and have a laugh about ,even if it didn't feel very funny at the time .
------------- no tin tent outings booked as yet ,just another cruise in Sept' booked so far
