Hi Everyone,
We have collected our van from storage and the battery would not operate the mover so we put it on charge overnight and it moved the caravan up the steep slope onto our drive. All the lights are now on, on the charger. However,the voltmeter in the van only registers a charge when the power cable is plugged into the mains. Take it off mains and the needle doesn't move an inch! But it did work on the mover when off mains and it will operate thelights when plugged in to the mains. Have we got a problem with the battery or with the caravan voltmeter??
Any ideas?

Yep you have left your battery in the van in the sub zero weather of late and it has drained it of power ,unfortunately once they go below a certain level it's usually a case of buying a new one ,I always take mine out of van and put it on trickle charge over the winter .your battery would be fine if your only on site EHU but if you use your mover a lot get a new one

Thanks Guys - just an update - we have bought a replacement battery supposedly charged and changed it over. The same thing has happened- when we switch off the mains power to use the battery there is no movement in the voltmeter and none of the lights will work. Any more ideas?

The new battery is not charged ? ,there is a fuse gone somewhere ? short circuit in the loom but that's doubtfull .take both batteries in car to a garage and get them checked with a proper tester .that will eliminate them ,if there o.k you have to check all internal fuses and wiring .

You might have a switch that says CAR...VAN...this should be set at VAN.

We're taking new battery back. Such a little thing that we should have checked first!
Caravan's are good for the brain - we have to keep trying to puzzle out how to solve the latest problem..
