Roughly £90-£160 for a pair. If you want a more accurate figure you need to post up tyre size, whether you want budget/premium/mid range & if you require a mobile fitting service. With that info somebody could look on e-tyres website for you & give you an exact cost which would be more helpful than a rough estimate.

What you have to beware of when obtaining quotes is that the price may not include vat, fitting or balancing charges so make sure that the price includes everything. Caravan tyres should also be balanced even if the tyre fitter says they don't as this could lead to caravan wheel fixing bolts coming loose. There are budget brand tyres plus well branded names but I avoid budget tyres because they are constructed from a different compound and although they may be okay on a dry road surface caution has to be taken when travelling on a wet roads. Two years ago I had two brand new 'Avon' tyres (made in England) by Mr. Tyre for £99 each to which everything was included in the price. You have to shop around though as Kwit-Fit wanted another £30 for each tyre plus £5 each for balancing which would have been another £70 in total. The tyres are the only grip you have between your car or trailer so I only buy well known brands merely because of safety reasons but at the end of the day it's down to peoples own choice.

E-tyres prices are all inclusive as are quotes from major tyre depots Kwik-fit, ATS etc. Other suppliers like Tyre shopper quote both fully fitted & supply only prices. Tyre shopper are pretty good. Order online for fully fitted & tyres are delivered to a National Tyres depot of your choice for fitting, may not be a good option for caravan though so maybe best to pay the e-tyres price for sake of convenience, they are usually fairly competitive & will fit & balance at your home or caravan location. Another option for best price if you can is to remove caravan wheels & take them to a depot for fitting.

I took my car and caravan to Mr. Tyre and they replaced both caravan tyres for the price, so for £99 fully inclusive and not having to even pick up a spanner I think it was well worth it. Job done same day, no fuss no hassle whereas buying online it's a waiting game plus more inconvenience in the long run.

just had mine done, 165/13 Event tyres, £85 for the pair fitted, balanced inc VAT I did take the wheels off to take them, the caravan is blocked in at the moment.

I don't feel that the speed travelled with a caravan makes the grip issue high enough to warrant spending £££ on a caravan tyre.
most cheaper tyres use old patterns from bigger companys, they may not last mileage wise, but on a caravan its usually age that kills them, not wear.
That said, the tyres on my landrover are also not the best on wet roads, I have an All Terrain fitted, as i use it on all terrains, I understand this and leave larger gaps than i might if i were driving a smaller ABS superduper wet road tyre shod vehicle.

Quote from local caravan place is £80 per tyre supply, fit and balance. Anyone know of anywhere in Southern Scotland (up to and including Glasgow area) cheaper. Also, service from same dealer is £150 + vat - need a service as well.

Wheel size 195/70 R14.

Thanks

How much effort are you prepared to make to save a few quid? If you get them fitted by your caravan workshop then its a one stop shop. All the info you want to get a cheaper deal is in this thread but then you will have to do a bit more, so your choice really. Getting them done elsewhere wil probably save you about £20odd for the pair, do you think thats worth it?

And this lot might get your service done, also at the house.

Go to Camskill.co.uk

Look up on thier 'van and trailer' section. That's where they do the commercial, 8 ply tyres.

Got 175/80/R13C's for £55 each - £58 with P&P.

Our local garage fitted them to the rims for £10 each.

Best saving I found round here.... 17

Indeed, nobody is 'best', it is about who is offering the best deal for the specific tyres you want at the time. With a caravan it is slightly more difficult as some fitting depots will not be able to fit caravans onto their premises or owners may find it difficult to manoeuvre onto forecourt or may not be able to take detached wheels to depot so they may find it better just to get a mobile fitter in even if it does cost a few quid more or even just get caravan workshop to fit them during service.

I would guess the op will save little more than £20/pr between cheapest & dearest & may have to do a fair bit more to achieve that saving. The op must also compare like with like & decide whether they want budget/mid range/premium & their choice might be limited by availability anyway. Its quite possible that the op's caravan workshop could come in with a better price if they were hit with a lower quote from somewhere by op.

I phoned a few local garages and they wont fit the tyres. We are not overrun with all things caravan in Scotland and price will reflect demand I would imagine - so limited choice = more expense. All that said I think the hassle of gettiing the tyres and getting them fitted is not worth the £20 odd quid it looks like I might save. If the saving had been greater I would be tempted to put up with the hassle. I will just go with the dealers quote, and they are only 15 minutes down the road. Many thanks.
