We're looking into booking our two week summer holiday and have decided to go across the channel to Normandy, France.
One thing I've noticed when looking at the campsites in the area is, many have EHU listed as being just 6amp. Question...Is 6amp enough for a modern caravan with people like us who try to use as little gas as possible?
6amp is ok for fridge, tv, laptop/phone charging microwave etc but not high current items like kettle or fan heater, so just take a kettle to boil on gas & you shouldn't need a fan heater anyway.

Thought so, I'm hoping it'll be that warm we won't need the heater lol.
We seem to manage quite well on 6amp electrics but you do have to be careful. We have successfully used our water heater, space heating up to 1000watts, microwave and our low wattage kettle but you can only use one at a time. Re the use of gas, we always take 2X6kgs cylinders with us and in 9 weeks rarely use one full cylinder albeit it is only used for cooking. If you take two bottle with you it would be most unlikely that you would run out.
We too manage on 6, just remember one heat type appliance at 1000w at a time. MOst sites will allow an upgrade 10amp - at a price! Agree with David re gas we're still on a 6kg after 12 weeks use.
6amps is just under 1500watts. We had no issues at Eurodisney the other year, or in Dieppe. Didn't need heating. Crikey, that was the last thing we needed in Paris. :-)
I'm feeling a little happier now about going to a low amperage site. I'll just have to make sure my daughter leaves her hair dryer and straighteners behind.

Her hair drier will work if you turn everything else off.
