We are travelling from York to Edinburgh on Easter Monday and was wondering which route would be best in wintery conditions towing a caravan.  Should it be the A1 to A68?

i would say a1 personally its more or less a straight road right into scotland at least

Thanks for your advice Iyn.  We were thinking that would be the best way.  Sorry Michael do you mean that the wind can be strong in places on the A1?     We are travelling part of the way and staying in York on Good Friday and then moving on to Edinburgh and I have my fingers crossed that the weather improves!!

A1 all the way. It's alot flatter (sp) and you're on straighter roads?

You're not as high up above sea level either (I think).

And there are less 'points of interest' that might catch you out. 17

When I head up that way (HGV), that's the roads I use.
