Hi all                   
I'm thinking about buying a chrome tow ball cover (fed up replacing the push on type when I park up) will this work ok with Alko tow ball.

yes, I have one of these and works fine with al-ko towball. Be aware though that the seem to attract thieves, I have had two stolen and am on my third.

Thanks for the reply Tony are they easy for the thieves to remove, I thought the cover was secured with tow ball retaining bolts.

There are two types - simple push on or fit over the bolts. Unless they are available made for alko balls I don't think the standard bolt on will fit.

I have never had a problem with the simple plastic jobbies.

The flipper type won't fit an alko ball due to longer neck unless an alko specific one is available.

The flipper one I have in my 'useful one day box' won't fit my Alko tow ball. I liked the flipper as it was one less thing to find a home for when towing and it was not easy to nick. Maybe there is a new market for Flippers that will work with Alko towballs.

Thanks to all for the reply's it's saved me the expence of buying a Flipper type & finding out this is not suitable,looks like I'm sticking with the push on type & keep replacing as they get nicked or going down the romovable towbar route!!!

They are not cheap are they?

They used to look nice on a Cortina with chrome bumpers, not sure they would suit a modern car though.

Used one up until we got an Alko stabiliser ... still got it in the garage but it looks rather the worse for wear so needs to be binned.

To fit with a blade type stabiliser it was common practice to cut out a section of the lower lip that fitted over the towball mounting flange.

Worked with the Bulldog stabiliser as the car bracket section was not straight under the towball, also worked with the old roadrunner for same reason.
