We've have a fair bit of snow here and our next door neighbour has cleared his side of the shared driveway off......onto the side of my caravan :-/
So do I dig all the snow away from the side of the van, its piled up to just above the wheels and at the front the height of the hitch. Or is it ok to leave it?
We have our van under a caravan cover as we have a big cedar tree on our drive that drips sap and drops green powder filled catkins periodically.
We have had quite a lot of water in the bowls of salt we've put in there and a splattering of water on the hob and sink area (no sign of any leaks from above so I am guessing water just collects there because its metal and the changes of temp mean condensation occurs in that spot). Is a load of snow stacked up that side of the van going to make it worse?
I would leave it. It's going to melt anyway in a few days. I wouldn't bother with the salt moisture traps in the van either. It's a waste of time. Vans are ventilated to allow air to circulate. That air is natural ambient air from outside. Any moisture your traps capture is being replaced all the time by more.
I think he has a bl//dy cheek what would he say if you piled your snow on his car? Shovel it back over his side and tell him its his and you dont want it on your van.Next thing he will be getting a load of manure delivered and piling it against your van..

Some of that salt will get into the air too, and we know how corrosive salt can be.
if my naighbour did that id shovel it all back into the middle of his drive in a massive pile, and then see how he likes it the cheeky sod, you dont want the damp rising up into your van
Maybe the neighbour simply thought the caravan wasn't going to be used in this weather and that the snow would have melted long before you needed to move it.
BE SPITEFULL take out a hair dryer and melt it all ,then watch him slip on the ice ,or at minus 6 tonight wait till they draw there curtains and throw a couple of buckets of water down there drive ,every half hour for a few hours
What sort of ignorant git does this? Is he plain stupid, arrogant, or what?
Id certainly be asking him what the hell he's playing at.
It doesnt matter if you 'van is likely to be staying put for the foreseeable or not, you dont pile snow - or anything else against something like a caravan no matter who it belongs to.
As it turns out, we have just such a pratt living halfway up our road. He regularly clears the road so he can get his van out (as far as his drive), but thinks nothing of piling snow on other folks drive ends. It'd drive me nuts, but it doesnt affect me as im above him where he doesnt clear (very inconsiderate of him not to do my bit as well, eh!)
