New to camping/caravanning but short of a few bob?
Although here as a rejoining member, my husband and I have been avid campers and enjoyed the outdoors for many years. Having just got married four years ago we took a huge plunge and started up two small businesses. It was a really hard and tough time and not the best timing as the 'crunch' as it was then, and then the financial crisis did it's best to scupper any plans we had.
It was during this period that we decided to buy a used caravan and site it somewhere we had loved camping before to give us a regular break from it all. In short, we appear to have come out of the other end and with one business thriving and the other stabilizing, so we want to give a little back to that which has looked after us.
Currently sited at an Adults Only site in Dorset we are considering interest for our van at an affordable cost to hopefully pay forward the luck and good time we had. Having lost people close to us over the years and very recently, it is our intention to donate proceeds to our chosen charity 'Cancer Research' and a donation to the site owners patronage Childrens Charity.
If you know of someone that needs a little luck and an opportunity to explore all that you have felt whilst camping, do let me know. Age, background, status etc is completely irrelevant. Just an honest approach with a genuine reason.
Compass Vantage 400/2 2 berth (about 18 yrs old)
Full awning (3 years old)
Shower room
Loo
Basin
Wardrobes/storage space
Kitchen/grill/hob/sink/fridge/freezer box etc
Gas Heating
Gas bottle(s) 2 large ones
Water pump
Hot water heater
Aside from the usual signs of weather, this van is in good condition and has been loved and looked after. The blinds don't work but everything else does. Even fitted a new tap and skylight just before the end of the season.
Too many extras to list and pretty much ready to go but we are even including cover, ground sheets, wind break, wheel clamp, external storage box, oh and even a mower and sun loungers!!!
This van and the bits and pieces would normally be advertised around £1800-£2000. However, we are happy to let it go to the right person or cause for half that - £900.
We've not taken it off site ourselves so you might need a bulb or two but I'm really not aware of any problems. New owner will need to collect after 1st March when site is open.
You might even talk to the amazing owners of the site about a seasonal pitch?
Shhhhh
<We currently have it pitched on one of the most favoured parts of the site>
I am not offering this anywhere else. It is very important to us that it goes to someone that needs a break and has a love for the outdoors so where best to place it.
This offer can be taken up anytime between now and when the site closes again 30th October 2013. That said, viewing won’t be possible until it opens on 1st March so unless someone trusts us on instinct now, they may have to wait until then anyway. Until such time, we will continue to spend many more nights and days of solitude there
I'm not sure how to post pictures here, but happy to email one or two of mine and some accurate library ones. Just let me know.
Whatever you choose to do this year, have a happy and healthy one full of amazing outdoor moments.
Happy Camping
I've attached some pics (one or two of mine and some accurate library ones)
------------- me and my bubble. no room for angst here
This is a really kind gesture and I'm sure whoever buys it will get years of caravaning from it. I know how hard it can be in the current climate so it may be the difference between somebody getting out and about or not.
It is also very goog of you to denote the proceeds. It so refreshing to see somebody giving something back.
More wishes of good luck. What a great thing to do. Hope you place it with someone or organisation who perhaps will do the same as you when they wish to sell up.
