The Milton Keynes Caravan Show started today in Middleton Hall in the Central Milton Keynes Shopping Centre. It runs through to Sunday. I had to be in the Centre to day so I thought I would have a look round. I only needed half the fingers on one hand to count the number of new caravans on show. This year it seems to have turned into a secondhand caravan sales lot which I suspect won't attract that many people. There are one or two other stands including ladders!!! MK Kia/Hyundia are also there with a range of tow cars.
Free, but £1.20 an hour to park unless you can manage to get one of those rare free spaces!
MK was in the news the other day for making loads of money from parking charges, the most outside of London for this region!
Spend a day there like you would at many other shows (not sure how as Middleton Hall is the size of 2 tennis courts) and that's nearly £10, would be cheaper to goto a proper show.
In fairness I think Middleton Hall is a lot bigger than two tennis courts!!! I also suspect that few people ever went to the show on its own without combining it with a day's shopping. Parking is expensive and due to go up! You can park in the Food Centre for free for 3 hours at the weekends and 2 hours during the week and the Theatre car park at a very reasonable cost. The point of my post was to suggest that the MK Show this year is hardly worth making a special trip to, where as in the past you would have seen a good selection on new vans.
I was back in the Centre today and I had another look round and there are actually 6 new caravans out of probably 30/35 in total. Interestingly several of the secondhand vans had sold on them so perhaps from the dealers pint of view it works.
The Middleton Hall is 1800 square m, a tennis court is 855 square m inside of the white lines!
It's just MK trying to copy what everyone else already does, I'd never think of going to a caravan show in the centre, when I can pop upto Birmingham to a proper show.
Next they will be putting boats in there and calling it a boat show.
