I was talking to a friend about something I saw in the summer and thought you might like to share it. I was out one day when I saw a car towing a home made caravan, with curtains a little chimney etc. It was basically a good quality wooden garden shed mounted on a chassis but quite professionally done. As it was moving I couldnt get a peek inside of course. I wonder if anyone else has seen such a thing or has indeed made one themselves?

I`m not sure but think they make `em near where I live, Lancaster.  They cost about £11k but I didn`t know they were for towing!  They`re also high off the ground.  Excellent for model railways.

there are loads of self made caravans on the road from teardrops to mini artics like mine . i have both . if you want to do it . there are type aprovals now . but my small teardrop was made about 30 yrs ago . i,ve had it twenty years . its just a bed in a shed . try googling tcgb . you may be suprised there are lots out there. wooden sheds on wheels have been around for years they are classed as shepherd huts . or another one is gregs gypsie bow top caravans .. try that site

I made my own teardrop a few years ago. Based on a trailer tent chassis.

Not quite what I saw but the principles the same its got me thinking now, what fun it would be to get an old chassis and build your own custom made caravan. As long as the shed was good quality (summer house grade) it could be insulated, carpeted, even have a patio door! Possibilities endless if you have the DIY skills.
