Hi all, we have just made the big change from a trailer tent to a tin top. I have heard from some people they do not use their shower in their van as it can bring in damp into their van. We tend to stay on campsites with all the facility's i.e. a good modern clean toilet, wash up and showers.
we dont use the shower, as its an all in one washroom and would get everything soaked and then have dry clear up etc, plus the walls are just wall boarding.
We have showered off the little ones in it before tho
We use the shower fairly frequently and especially when were on a fully serviced pitch and have mains water connected to the van .
Our shower compartment is fully sealed so no worry's about dampness .
We used to have a Pageant Burgundy and as I remember the shower compartment is separated by a concertina door from the cassette toilet making it a quite usable
We use the caravan shower occassionally depending on how long we are out for. If we are just out on a weekend rally then no we don't use it and shower at home before we leave and use the extra space to hang up wet coats etc. on the rail if need be but if we are out for longer for 4 nights or more then we of course do use the shower. No matter what the weather, it's convenient, cosy and warm and most of all we don't need to worry about contracting veruka's or atheletes foot from a shared shower cubicle which I have heard in the past that can sometimes happen. We prefer our own facilities at all times and that's why it's beneficial of owning either a caravan or motorhome.
Yes we do, when we had an end bathroom in our previous swift (last van) the shower was in a sealed pod, like a proper shower cubicle separate so used that all the time. when we got this van we have now, i was a bit worried at first, as the loo is separated by a concertina door,But I didn't realize the actual shower bit is all plastic sealed board, not just ordinary normal wall board like our old lunar had many years ago, so now I use that one too :)

Adopt a rescue, rescue dogs make great pets, don't support puppy farms.
The road can be tough and rough, but what you put in you get back 10 x more.
Using the shower in the caravan in general does not have any direct bearing on the damp levels in the walls that does damage. If there is other damage in the are that breaks the moisture barrier then it could be a problem. We have always used the caravan shower when away though if there is a shower block nearby I might use it though Anne will not.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
Always use the shower in the caravan, and by using fully serviced pitches you have not got to worry about the water running out, you only have to worry about using all the hot water !! We have an end bathroom with seperate shower and find this layout suits us. We tend not to use site showers as in the main they are left in a poor state by the previous occupant (sign of the times I guess) and we can choose when we have our shower. Makes a lot of sense when the weather is bad.
PS. If you are having a shower make certain nobody runs the hot tap in the kitchen as your shower will run cold.........
depends if no or limited facilities available then yes, if on a site with decent facilities then will use the site ones, purposely bought a caravan with an end bathroom for this reason as we do a lot of flyball competitions where there are no other options
To be quite honest I don't even know why anyone wouldn't want to use the shower in their own caravan as it's a bit like having your own shower at home but wanting to go out in the cold and use someone elses instead. Most people these days want home from home luxuries and that's why manufacturers install them so it's quite defeating the object of owning a caravan in the first place really. Campers under canvas don't have the same luxury like caravanners do so I think it's only fair to say that the site facilities should be left mainly for those with the priority needs.
