Hi was wondering what types of heating people recomend. we have been looking at oil filled heaters and halogen ones but was wondering if i was to get one which would be best as it would be cheaper then having the gas fire on in the van using the gas bottle up. Was also toying with the idea of a fan heater but we have had one in the past and they are a little to noisey for me

In my old 'van I always found that oil filled rads worked best. Nice steady heat and silent. They are not the fastest at worming up but they do provide a better overall heat. I have a halogen for emergencies as it is lightweight and takes up little space but it is too fierce to use on a regular basis and it works by heating up objects near to it rather than the surrounding air the the oil filled rads do.

We use a modern fan heater with thermostat. We have found it's easier to direct the heat. When we're in bed we direct the fan heat under the bed to keep our bums warm lol.
It's also useful for drying wet clothes, although when we're away at xmas we're going to invest in a small oil filled radiator too.
We have just bought 4oil filled heaters for our small house and they are really good on of them we use in the bathroom and we intend to use it in the van.Ian

In winter we use a fan heater to give a quick burst, and then we revert to the caravan's thermostatically controlled heater. We turn it onto a low setting for overnight use.
We also keep all the cupboard doors open to thoroughly warm all of the areas of the van for the first night, or two.

We use the fan heater to help heat the van up on arrival along with the caravan heater then only use if we feel it needs a quick boost.
I used a halogen heater in February and it was useless. My caravan is tiny and it struggled to heat it at all - won't be using that again!
I find a fan heater warms the van up very quickly and, although I like my room to be very quiet when I go to sleep, I soon got used to the hum of the fan heater.
We had an eberspacher in the campervan. As noisy as a fan heater on the inside, even louder on the outside, can disturb the neighbours if you are on a busy site.
Delonghi Bambino oil filled rad for me. Never had any problems with it, really quick to heat up, takes up little space and lots better than the cheap look-alikes, which don't seem to work half as well.
