I know this kind of topic has been done before but anyway here's my tale.
We have just been away for a few days to Somerset with our little old ABI, yesterday I challenged 2 chaps on separate occasions for the same thing, they were both emptying their toilet cassettes and waste water down the drain under the freshwater tap. When I walked over and told the first one to stop immediately he did so and explained that he didn't know where the disposal point was as he had never been to the site before, we'll neither had we but after a short wander after pitching everything was found.
The second guy just launched into a tirade off abuse at me also telling me "its the like if you with a s****y car and caravan that spoil sites" but in my job I get called all sorts so water off a ducks back, he stopped what he was doing and wandered off after I made it quite clear I was not going to let him proceed, his final parting words being more of the same.
It really annoyed me that some people seen to think rules dont apply to them never mind the health consequences for others, oh and it kept the curtain twitchers entertained.
I should add that I am very happy with my s****y 12 year old Mondeo and 26 year old caravan.
It is a disgusting thing to do but perhaps you should have informed the warden and asked them to take appropriate action rather than playing vigilante.
Well done you I hope you told the warden/owner, maybe they could put up a sign that says drinking water only no waste water.
As for the abuse about your van I think it just boils down to the few people who spoil our brilliant pastime that SHOULD be for everyone.
You did the absolute right thing. It is so important to keep drinking water and toilet emptying areas totally separate.
Children are particularly vulnerable to germs from contaminated taps. Too late to get warden in this case and people need to be stopped immediately. Also it is important to rinse loos out and how would they do this safely at a drinking water tap.
We rally most of the time and always have a sign that says 'NO PART OF THE TOILET TO BE BROUGHT TO THIS TAP' or words to that effect.
theres a reason that the waste are kept seperate, water runs away either into the drains and then watercourse's ie streams rivers etc, then it is extracted and goes full circle again and the waste toilets go into a seperate drain either a septic tank or the sewage and it against the law to put sewage into the water chain. you did the best thing telling them, shows how small minded they were mentioning your unit, no doubt they had a shiny new van and a big four wheel drive and an anwing as big as their van, it don't matter what you have.
well done you, have seen two people do it myself.one was a lady too far away to say anything to her.the other was a man who said he did not know where to empty the toilet.he did say sorry though.i love to see old caravans, only got old because someone looked after it.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
I have also seen this type of behaviour, its not that un common. Another thing I have seen is dog owners letting their dogs lick the fresh water tap whilst it is running so the dog can get a drink. You have to tell the site owner immediately so they can sanitize the taps etc.

think the caravan site is failing it's customers there. I've yet to go to a site, where they've not informed me where important services are located.<img align="absmiddle" src="forum_images/smiley13.gif" width="17" alt="17">
Well done you though <img align="absmiddle" src="forum_images/smiley32.gif" width="18" alt="17">
I was thinking the same! But if I don't know where they are, I can always ASK!!
It's just laziness if you ask me, the CDP was probably further away....
Good man for approaching and taking a stand. Bet it felt lonely eh? No curtain twitchers felt the need to support your cause?
Problem is, the more such anti social behaviour is ignored, them more it manifests itself. It was good of you to stand up and be counted, was recently challenged to fight by the chap in the toilet cubicle beside me who didn't like me objecting to his smoking in there.
I consider myself a peaceable chap, and persuaded him physical violence was not the solution, not least because when he emerged I was 6" taller and 6" wider than he!
BTW I drive a shiny 4x4 with shiny caravan and an awning the same size as my 'van. I'm also a time served engineer who has worked all his life and paid all his debts...so some of those who post above may consider may wish to reflect?
I am truly shocked, never seen this done before... Well done for saying something I'd have done same.
Comment about 4x4's and shiny new vans is bit below the belt, I too have both, have worked hard to build a business where I can afford to buy such equipment for a hobby I am very passionate about, doesn't mean I show any less respect for people with older equipment far from it if anything I'm more interested to see some of the well cared for classic vans and tells me it's someone as passionate about caravanning as I am... Don't stereotype people, live and let live... Scum like those described come in equipment of all shapes and sizes from my experience
