We have recently ventured back into caravanning with a 1995 Abbey Iona. It has the Carver 1800s heater, which for a small van like ours is quite good. Is there an add-on kit available, to provide ducted blown warm air to the nether regions, suitable for competant DIY?
I fitted one to my Sprite Musketeer years ago , i had to buy seperate items , ducting pipe , end flaps , an adaptor that fitted to the back of the heater ( theres a press out shape on the back of the heater ) , and a fan ( got a feeling it was called a Carver Minor Fan ) and a switch.
Check ebay, as if its just the fan kit you want then they do come up often enough. Its a 12v fan that bolts to the back of the fire, then you add ducting and wire in the controller.
With a bit of ingenuity you could probably make something up to do the job. It's only a case of attaching a box with a fan in to the back of the heater with some ducting coming out of it
Thanks for the replies. Ebay to the rescue and a fan unit is on it's way as I write! The van may be old, but so are we! We don't intend to get cold when we venture out early and late into the year.
