Hi everyone, just wondering if there is anything to stop condensation during the cold months under the bed.
We have slats in the middle and the side seats have wooden panels. This morning the underside of the seats were soaking wet and with this current damp weather it's almost impossible to dry them out.
Under the side seats there is good ventilation and we left a thermostat blow heater aiming under the bed to try and stop this, but it made it worse.
Any suggestions, I've read about drilling more holes in the wooden panels, but figured this could weaken the support?
But can you take the stuff on top off and indoors until you find an answer. You could dry it out then.,
We have had to put 5 ply boards under our beds with big holes in the for ventilation. But as unsure as I am of it we are taking our cushions out because the van in storage is too far to keep going to in bad weather.
Would rather have them in our bedroom even if it is a small bedroom anyway. We cna keep them as safe as possible. Then the damp tower with crystal inside will hopefully do the rest of it.
I am lookingon the search above for anything to help. Someone is bound to come along soon. meanwhile take them out if you can. Better something than nothing
I notice you have an ABI Globestar which we had years ago. I am afraid the condensation problem is one you will not solve.
If it is anything like our van then I suspect that you have some damp within the van somewhere which is causing the problem. Get someone to check it out with a damp meter. Ours was damp when we got rid of it.

WE have an ABI Globestar and don't experience this problem at all, we do have a memory foam topper that we use on the bed perhaps that is what prevents it?

Would have thought it was more likely to cause it as it stops the air flowing through.
my missus swears by salt.
she puts little tubs of salt in the bathroom and living/sleeping areas.
you only have to put an inch of salt in because it is only the top that gets a crust.
then every time the top layer of salt goes solid she changes it.
works for us.
Mine seemed a lot better for putting some of those cheap bed rolls underneath the mattresses - the foam ones used by hardy campers , made of thin foam. You can get them from a cheapie shop for around £1.99.
It could well be a bit of damp, as I have opened the battery compartment today and found a puddle of water. Strange how it's only the side where our heads are, the other side where our bodies lie lighter is fine. A friend had suggested some Polystyrene tiles???

Thank you everyone for the advice.
If there is water in the battery compartment, have a look at the seals around it. You can get new ones to stop the water.

Yes the seals are in poor condition, totally dried up and fall off when you open the compartment.
I'm also wondering if it's me at fault when it comes to the condensation as I've got a fan heater aiming at the bed, thinking about it.... the air possibly can't escape as we're blocking it.
May try pointing the heater toward the rear tonight and see if things improve as this morning even the cushions over the slats were soaked.
