Hi all. Bought a lunar quasar 534 2009 model in march this year from a dealers in Flintshire . Took it out at Easter were we noticed a bad squeaking noise from the fire every time we walked by it. Turned out to be the start of delamination. Went into dealership to get fixed , only for myself to get it home were I noticed the fault was still there. Contacted them were they said it was a metre by a metre and was to small to do. I had other problems as well so after taking advice I insisted that they do the repair . They took the van back in after letting myself down 3 weeks on the run saying that engineers were calling in sick and did not have anyone to do it. I finally snapped and they came and got the van. They had it on two occasions for three weeks at a time. Got the van back and the floor seemed stiff so I thought job done but could not see we're they had injected. Spoke to some people who said they sometimes go in from we're the fridge or cooker sits, so I just got on with it.came back at the end of August after hols but the floor seemed to dip again in front of the sink and by the door. Booked a mobile engineer as I just didn't trust the dealership anymore. He has just been today were he done a full inspection the van came back all clear for damp and everything else spot on but on his report he put down delamination roughly 2 ft by 2 ft exactly were they we're meant to of done the repair. I told him about the problems I had , so he went underneath and had a closer look. He told me it looks like they have slackened of we're the floor joined the chasis put spacers in and tightened it back up. To say I am gutted is a under statement. I have warranty till next march, but how do I play it now. Do I ask for my money back( although he has said the van is spotless apart from the floor) or try again for the repair. This is my first van and I bought it out of my redundancy money so we had holidays for years to come. If the repair gets done should it be ok.advice would be most grateful cheers.
i would take the independant report with you back to the company explaining again the times its been in and still not repaired properly and insist on being there when the work is being done, or threaten to go to trading standards if not, best of luck
Providing you Lunar has full service history , floor delamination is covered for a full repair including all labour and parts .
Your service book has this information under the warranty section .
If your supplying dealership is not playing ball I would look for another Lunar agent to do the work
There are several dealers in Flintshire ,from small to large, which one this applies to might help others avoid further problems or help you if others have had similar problems with them ,name and shame them
How would you know if you had floor delamination? Just by the floor squeaking seems a little vague, but my floor squeaks a fair bit by my fire and I don't want to get worried!

hi,the floor appears springy to walk on(bit like having soft soles on your shoes).squeeking floors are a good indication of delamination.normally where its used most ie.round the sink or the doorway or cooker.the thin ply becomes unstuck from the foam filling.

on our delam it felt like we were walking downhill and the floor went down, for some reason we did not notice it when viewing the van but wasn't a hard thing to fix

Black fox it is a large dealership with the name Flintshire in it. And John as I said in my post it was the dealership who told me it was delamination. That's what I was furious about it was meant to of had a full service before we purchased the van. The floor sinks when you stand on it and feels very soft compared to other parts of the floor. Ours also squeaked as well. Hope it helps. Apparently it is a easy fix, but for some reason they don't want to do it. They have had it twice for 3 weeks at a time. Supposedly to do the delamination.
Get aquote from a reputable dealer/repaire for the work. You`ll have arecord of the failed endeavours tyo acieve a repair from your dealer/seller. So, get the work done, pay for it and claim it back from the small claims court. Send a report to Lunar, they`d be most interested.

Hi peterws, went back to dealer today were he tried to deny that delamination repair.until I showed him the previous two work sheets that states delamination repair had been done. Then he tried to say that he did it but we couldn't see the cuts on the flooring as they were very careful when they cut it. I stopped him in his tracks and pointed out that the independent engineer I had used had removed the cooker and fridge and went over the floor with a magnifying glass and there was no delamination repair done. Then it was he had been let down by his engineers and he would be taking care of it full of apologies . He is picking the van up in a couple of weeks as I refused to use anymore fuel backwards and forwards. I have told him its his last chance and it will be inspected again by a independent engineer. If not see you in court. I am beginning to wonder is there any genuine dealers out there. They are all quick enough to take your money but are not interested in after sales. What really got me wondering how many vans have gone out after a so called service and they have cut corners.very scary.
