Ieuan Rees, representing Banham, from Hermitage, said that although his client had previous convictions there had been a "slowing down" in his offending.
That's all right then
Glad they caught, just wish more were caught in the act.
The slowing down in offending is that he maybe used to drive the getaway car at high speed but stealing caravans is driving at 50mph......

So the Caravan sales adressess in the sat nav and the Bolt cutters were for what????????????
14 months is nothing given the heartache they could have caused

Well, all thefts can be nasty and unpleasant - but let's not get carried away here.
'Heartache'??
This was a newish van - and, as such, was *probably* in good condition (although they can be damp within months of purchase)
OTOH, there are hundreds of thousands of leaking caravans out there (many looking relatively new) which, if stolen, might well be a cause for celebration, rather than 'heartache!
I venture to suggest that there are many owners who, if their caravan was nicked, would do a joyful little jig before 'phoning the insurance company.
It's rather like flooded homes - time and again, we see TV images of householders heaping up tatty and worn out furnishings outside their flooded property - all of 'em telling the news reporter how "devastated" they are ('devastated' appears to be *the* obligatory word in these circumstances) when, in fact, you know full well that they are secretly delighted at the prospect of a refurbished home and brand new fixtures & fittings.
They know that they are required to say that they are 'devastated' - but it's often plain to see that they are, in fact, 'elated'..
What's more - if an adequately insured caravan owner really *is* devastated by the theft of his property, one can only assume that he/she has not yet had any experience of *genuine' heartache

Hilarious observation - well spotted!
Actually, 'Marfan Syndrome' is a multi-faceted condition, with numerous related syndromes.
'Mabonus', for example, is endemic amongst people in the banking sector, while, 'Maexpenseclaim' affects the the majority of politicians in Westminster (early research suggests that it has its origins in the water supply, particularly when used to mix cut price drinks in the Member's subsidised bar)
Thankfully, much effort is being expended to eradicate certain 'Ma' syndromes - with the result that 'Malivingwage' is now almost completely extinct.

For goodness sake, it's only a caravan. From what I understand from the report, he stole it from a caravan sales ground and it wasn't someones "pride and joy". Have people actually read the information presented by the article, or have they jumped to conclusions based on what they would like to hear. It was still wrong to steal it but for god sake, people are calling for this bloke to go to prison for even longer? People are wanting serious physical harm to happen to him? Stealing caravans does not equal sex offences. I think he has probably got about the right sentence. I am all for tough sentencing for violent crimes, but we can't "lock up and throw away the key" for each and every possible crime committed. This would make our criminal justice system even more inconsistent than it already is!
Caravan thief threads are about the vent of bile, hatred, gnashing of teeth & impotent rage. You cannot expect them to be rational. The belief & hope is that a special hot & s***ty corner of hell exists for these people & we want them burning & covered in s**t with hot knives thrust through their bodies for the rest of time.
We also know what section of 'society' these scum come from but any posts suggesting this even obliquely, are removed.
