What's the best way to do it? We can't do it at home due to lack of space! The site we store it at doesn't have any facilities. Thinking of putting it through one of the manned car washes but worried incase the power hosing damages the van 🙄Any ideas or advice would be appreciated 👍

I wouldn’t use the jet wash it will probably blow out all the silicon in your joints, we use fenwicks caravan cleaner and a caravan brush literally takes 10 minutes.
You could try using that waterless stuff are your Caravan Storage apparently it’s good.

We bought a cap for the side of our aquaroll which has a tap built in. We put the empty aquaroll in the boot of the car (with the tap on the side) and use the garden hose to fill it to the brim. We then drive to the caravan storage and use a bucket and the water from the aquaroll to wash and rinse the caravan. The tap on the aquaroll means you don’t have to actually carry any heavy water containers and the full aquaroll has always been more than enough to do the caravan.

I was considering getting a battery powered hose to make the rinsing easier, you can get ones that suck up water from a bucket! I definitely wouldn’t risk a power hose at one of those car washes though!

I have one of these......

Mobi V-17 Portable Bike Pressure Washer.     (google).

Great little tool had it around 6/7 years, only use occasionally. However never fails. Wife loves it when we take it away with us, it's her little toy. Just enough power to wash and rinse, Not do any Damage.

You could try what I use as a "pressure" washer for the e-bikes. One of those garden fence sprayers filled with water.

I'm in the same situation whereby we have to keep our caravan in storage which has no facilities either. We have an estate car whereby the rear seats fold down so it's more like a van which provides more volume of space to carry the equipment. I take a telescopic ladder, a telescopic wash brush, a battery operated pressure washer (Torx Hydroshot) with two fully charged batteries, one paint kettle (small plastic tub) two empty buckets and two 15 litre water carriers filled with tap water from an outside tap at home and a 2" soft paint brush. For general cleaning I use Fenwick's Caravan Cleaner, a tub of washing powder and a bottle of Greased Lightning Showroom shine. The one bucket I fill with water then adding a cap full of Fenwick's solution and the other with plain water. All the aluminium rail trims I work in the Fenwick's solution with a soft paint brush then the Worx Hydroshot will blast out all the stubborn algae. The battery operated sprayer is nowhere near as powerful as a normal pressure washer but the best practice is to spray at an angle to the caravan surface anyway and avoid aiming directly with the full jet force of water. The washing powder I use to clean the square plastic skylights (about once every 3 years) which I remove via the 4 securing screws and clean the 3 skylights independently. I can honestly say that my 18 year old caravan looks cleaner than many vans that are far younger mainly because many people only clean the caravan surfaces and never clean the rail trims properly and the evidence quite often shows when you look closely.

We must be lucky. Our storage offers cleaning (for a price!) and we usually take advantage of it at the start of the season.

Is there a local hand car wash? Have a word and see if they can do it without resorting to pressure washing it.

We used to take our caravan to the local jet wash and sue the jet wash onto using common sense and not spraying hard around windows and doors. After all caravan dealerships use jet washed.
Don't go through a manned station and do the jet wash yourself however cleaning the roof will be problematic wherever you do it.

I do the roof using a bucket of water and steps. Put steps inside under a an open roof light and climb up and put the bucket on the roof. A squeegee mop will reach it all.

A good tip. Except our roof light wont open fully, or at least enough to get a body through it! I just do our roof from either side off a small ladder.

Another tip is to wash it yourself just before a big downpour as the rain helps with the rinsing!

My other half swears by ‘Elbow Grease’ to clean the caravan, black streaks and all. £1 from our local Boyes.
