Hi folks I have joined the ranks of a caravaner after upgrading from a trailer tent. Now the confusing issue of awnings has arisen. Would a 925cm isabella fit my 904cm Elddis Hurricane GTX?
just had a look on a elddis specific web site ,the awning size for a hurricane gtx either year 2000 or 2001 is 904cm ,so yes your correct that size awning would be slightly to long for your van .
the extra equates to about 10 inches so 5 inches to long either side .but if its cheap enough go for it
I obtained the 904cm size from he Elddis website. So the 925cm awning will fit but as its oversize will it look baggy or can it be pulled out to take out the excess?
The difference is 21 cms. which is round about 8" so you would be left with 4" of material at both ends which seems a bit excessive really. You could pull the caravan onto a pair of ramps to give you the extra height but whether you would actually gain 4" is another question especially if you are pitched on a slope. The golden rule to remember is that if an awning is too short there's no solution but if it's slightly bigger you can always apply a practical solution by gaining some height by using a pair of ramps as long as the extra height needed is within reason. So basically you have calculate how much height you need and whether the application of the ramp idea will actually achieve your requirements.
Thanks guys that's a lot clearer now. Slight change of subject, the van has a Thetford cassette toilet looking at the instructions the blue fluid is measured by the cap. On my van above the cassette door is small door do I put the fluid in there or is it for the flush water? No mention of it in the instructions for the van or toilet (elddis hurricane GTX) 2000
The blue fluid goes directly into the cassette tank itself which breaks down the waste and the one above the access door is for the pink flush fluid for flushing the bowl after use.
