I have recently baught an Elddis wisp 350/2 1992 model the awning rail is 735cm but looking i cant find 1 under £300 and i havnt got that sort of money at the moment, I have been looking at 260 porch awnings but with the shape of the 'van with the sloping front the height of the rail is between 210cm and 230cm and the porch awnings have a min height of 235cm is there any way this would fit or do I save up over winter for a proper awning?
just keep looking ,i got a 750cm from a advert on here for £120 and its a cracker .local papers are quiet good for awnings to ,e/bay tends to be a bit pricey ,beware those porch awnings for small vans as the model number i.e 260 /390 etc means the length of straight rail you need in cm .!!!!
Beware using a porch awning unless you have enough horizontal length at the right height. I have both the ultima 390 and 260 which are great when up but the 390 does not fit well even on my 5m van. The roof slope means that the height drops enough to cause a problem.
It causes the arc of the carbon poles to push away from the van which makes the part that should be against the van pull away leaving no seal and a large gap. The size of your van makes me think you may well suffer the same problem with the 260. There are bargains to be had, especially as the season draws nearer to a close so hang in there and good luck.
Preloved is a good source of awnings. If you (and seller) have a paypal account and the buyer is agreeable then arrange your own courier to pick up. I use parcelmonkey and I have had the sellers just wrap the poles up in the awning and then wrap in black bags. Cost me under ten pounds. I put in the weight in as 22kg x 120cm x 40cm x 40cm. You can't specify a time only a day. The last awning I bought I printed off the delivery notes and sent via post. Or if you choose parcelforce (an option on parcelmonkey) it's a couple of pound more but you don't need to print dockets off.
Also you should be aware of extra costs if you are have items picked up from some northern Scottish post codes.
Also worth on those adverts where it says pick up only firing off an email asking if they would accept a bid if you arrange a courier.
Apache do small combi awnings which might be worth a look.
Hope this helps.
Thank you all great advise I'm glad I asked rather than jumping the gun asusual would have been a costly mistake if I baught a porch awning as by the sound of it it would have been totally useless, and also follow up to the last comment I work for a small company who uses a lot of couriers so have lots of options there I never thaught of using.
I'm new to caravaning, and I took my old Awning to a Caravan shop for some some help to erect. As it was very old he advised getting a new one. He had some available. The one we got is brand new only ever been out to be looked at.
£150. For an awning for an 18 ft van. Curtains easy. Click poles.
We are chuffed, so shop around local caravan shops.
I have read through the listing and the link also messages the seller and the smallest caravan that the awning will fit is 738cm and my caravan has a 735cm floor to floor would this be an issue or coul I get away with it as it sounds a good 1 to buy?

Thats only 3cm difference - cant imagine that will be an issue.
as above 3cm will be taken up by without even noticing it ,it works out at half a inch either side .just had another look and also checked his feedback ,yep i would definetly class this as a bite his hand off buy
3 cm is nothing if your worried about 3 cm put a plank of wood under the caravan wheels hey presto 3cm bigger the new carpet would be £30-50 alone bargain in my opinion
DONT MISS BARGAINS THEY DONT COME ALONG VERY OFTEN
We have the same elddis whisp as yours and same year .
Our porch is a dorema which was £80 & like new out of freeadds it just overlaps the side window by about 2" but is not a problem as the dorema porch as padded sides which you can fit tight upto caravan. Also we have a dorema full awning with annex that was £100 same again out of addmag & again it also is in very good condition. The full awning is a size 3 but a size 4 dorema will fit allso just needs pulluing out a bit more at sides (thats what our first one was). The porch and full awning have stood upto some bad winds without any probs.
Just keep looking in freeadds etc there are plenty of good buys out there.
You can see the porch & full awning in my gallery.
