We have a built in microwave in our caravan of about the same wattage and we find it generally works on a 6 amp supply in France. In the UK most sites have 10/16 amp supply.

As long as you don't have many more electrical things plugged in with it should be fine and don't think it will trip the fuse box.

A 700 Watt m/wave will draw in excess of 4 amps the equivalent of a 1000W appliance

We use one all the time but make sure we have nothing else running like the blow heating or the water heater..

Should be absolutely fine.

We can use our microwave (700w), plus the electric hotplate (800w), and the water heating (1000w), without tripping a 16 amp EHU.

the worst that can happen is you will trip the fuse in your caravan. Nothing major to worry about.

Just turn everything else off for the 2/3 minutes you are using your microwave and all will be fine

watts divided by the volts - 700 divided by 230 gives you a draw of 3.04 amps.  Provided that your hook up has more than that available then the only thing that will happen is that your custard will be done in about a minute.

Leave the plate in when you travel and that could do more damage than the electrics!!!

Phil

It is a common mistake made with M/waves the 700W rating is the heat output, the actual rating in electricity is considerably more,I have a 900W M/wave in my van but it actally draws in excess of 7amps.

The wattage referred to re a M/wave is microwave power and as such the conversion chart doesn't apply.

A M/wave is app 60% efficient,a700W microwave oven consumes app 1100 W of electricity to produce 700 W of microwave power.. The other 400 W are dissipated as heat, in the magnetron tube and operating, transformer, turntable motor, fan, light and the electronics.

It should be considered when on low Amp sites

We use a 700w microwave with no problems. Just make sure everything else is off that uses high wattage. Heater, kettle etc.Television, lamps etc. are fine.
