Got back on Friday from our first caravan holiday with the crappy caravan, & first time ever towing one 17 Most eventful.  500 mile round trip was a bit optimistic, but we enjoyed it, although we had a few 'events'

1. Lost the roof window/skylight on the M4/5 which we didn't realise until we arrived at destination - cue me sprawled on the top of the caravan with a roll of duct tape and a plastic bag (& subsequent nightmares that we'd caused some crash/damage to other cars).

2. One of the wheel trims exploded into pieces when the tyre went over a pothole.

3. I had to stop 3 times to remove the rear light cover and adjust the bulbs as one of the indicators was playing up - fortunately I had a screwdriver

4. The 'please can I have the flattest site' ended up with us being helped to level the caravan - it was leveled so high one of the spaniels had to be lifted in and out 17

5. We didn't have the heart to even attempt to put up the awning.

But the good news

1. I had it serviced before we went, and at about 25 years old she's as dry as a bone, all in working order, no CO2 from the test. Got 2 new tyres too :)

2. The caravan towed like a, well, brick. Not one wobble.

3. We were nice and toasty, and dry. Played lots of games & spent time with each other - can't wait for the next trip - but it needs to be anywhere flat....with no big hills.

Suggestions welcome.

Glad you had a good time.

I can suggest Lucksall Caravan & Camping Park - Ross On Wye, Herefordshire.

Very flat and right beside the river. You'll have no problems pitching the awning here.

Good luck with your next trip
