We are considering buying an eighteen month old Bailey Pegasus. Unfortunately, it missed it’s annual service (for understandable reasons) and does not have a valid warranty.
Are there any major damp issues with the Pegasus? Or any other common problems I can check?
Any other general advice from Pegasus owners would be welcome.
I think if it does not have the full warranty i would walk away.Caravans no matter how young can suffer from damp and if you decided to buy it i would take a damp meter and check it myself if not from a dealer who will give you a warranty against damp.
I appreciate it is a bit of a gamble and we will only buy it if the price is good and it is in tip top condition. I am going to have an initial look myself and then I'll consider a pre purchase report.

You need to look in the front and side boxes. Some Pegasus owners have found damp when they removed the black plastic trays.
I wouldn't buy one without a warranty whatever the price is.
You never know if yours will be the next to let in the damp and they do come with a ten year warranty for a reason.
If you do get any damp then the cost of the repairs will certainly be greater than any saving you will make.

I though Bailey had done away with wooden wallboards and replaced it with plastic (inc internal structure of the walls) so damp should be less of a problem even if there was ingress. There will be the floor and internal fittings to consider though I may be wrong!
avoid like the plague unless its dirt cheap or has a valid warranty.
as already mentioned;
the floors in the front wet lockers can rot out due to ingress through the grab handle bolts and wire holes ( for LED lights ) and from the floor to front panel joint . you dont know its happening until you remove the plastic tray in the wet lockers .
fair enough it will all get repaired under warranty for free but if you dont have a warranty it could be a large bill !!
Look on Caravan talk forum under Bailey caravans you will see a variety of things to look for.If it is a dealer i would be looking for at least a 12 month unconditional warranty.If it is private it would have to be very cheap,so as to cover yourself for expensive problems.
Not all have damp ingress, ours is 2 years old and is fine so far. I would contact Bailey and see if anything can be done re warranty. They are nice vans.

I will speak to Bailey re the warranty - although I expect them to say tough luck.
I will probably end up walking away from it. However, if it is very cheap and looks in excellent condition I may just be tempted. Especially as I know the reasons for selling are genuine.
rain ingress and probably road spray as well, it gets in behind the grey plastic covers on the grab handles ( these hide the bolts that secure the handle to the front panel ) then water runs through the holes where the led light wire runs and the grab handle securing bolts and into the wet lockers , running down the inner front wall and between the plastic liner and front wall onto the ply below, there was no sealer at all on ours !!! fixed this myself after the dealer fix of re-sealing front panel to floor joint didnt solve the problem
ok , 4 x-head screws in the plastic liner fix it to the ply below . to remove liner you may have to slide the plastic trim in the front outer corner of the locker upwards .check under the floor as well , as ours had evidence of staining , fungi and surface cracks to the ply.
