What one would you buy . I'm looking for 5 year old about.
With a fixed bed. This is not for me but for a friend.
What make and model . I like the bailey Bordeaux . But not sure if they would how reliable are these .
Or any other . .?
Ive spoke to a few people on sites with vans with a fixed bed.Two of the annoying things they said was, whoever was in the inside had to get over the person on the out to get to the loo thus disturbing them.Second, they were back breaking to make up as you have to stretch 0ver to the inside. They also said, next time they get a van it will be a isle bed....their words not mine.

Precisely, That's why after loads of research we bought the Bailey Senator Arizona, the front lounge long enough to leave made up into two singles leaving the side dinette for eating. This is all ok if there is just two of you but wouldn't work for a family. We looked at island beds but they didn't seem to work on a single axle, taking up so much space, and wasn't going up the twin axle route. Have now downsized to an Adria Action but still leave it made up into two sigles, doubling as seats during day, just remove back rests at night and use the pull out section of the centre chest for eating.

Thank you for that I am asking for a solo caravaner. She is siting her van to be able to use it. I understand the problem of the double bed and having to climb over . We have the two singles . But that is not a problem for my friend. I was thinking of a van about 5 years old they ddnt make many singles then but as said not a problem .
I am more concerned that it is in good condition. If she has to change she needs something that will be good value and not a worry .
She has a coachman pastiche now 6 year old this has been a problem since new. Needing new from water pumps cracked sink and now the back has gone as well , she has been refused any help because it is now out of warranty.
I am trying to encourage her to change it . She is thinking of just giving up.
Thanks for replies . Please keep them coming . Good second hand vans 5 years old or about.
We've just bought a swift challenger 2008 540 fixed bed, at 1500kg, but absolutley love it, no worries making the bed up, it's easier than playing tetras every night lol. Loo is ok, shower is fully lined and usable even though you walk through to the loo, lots of space for us two and two dogs, mattress is so comfy better than my bed at home, my friend has a charisma 535 2008 same sort of layout , bed over the other side, a bit shorter than our challenger, but still nicely laid out and not as heavy. This is our second swift challenger, have to say both been very good, not saying swift are any better as I've also had a lunar and a bailey both been good at their jobs, but I just seem to like the swifts a bit more, personal choice.
