Whats the best way to take awning down in windy conditions , all my panels zip out, don't know if it's best to take them out first or try and take it all down as one

We leave the storm lashing on, its a one that goes over the awning, take out pegs except one from each leg, drop the side poles, then the middle pole , he starts to pull out pegs as I pull the awning from the rail so its on its back, we leave in the panels. And fold as normal, it goes back up with the panels in.

I've had to pull our awning down (and put it up) several times in a gale - completely by myself!!   

The main thing you need to do is make sure that the awning remains pegged at all four corners whilst you remove the end and front panels. Once you have done that, remove any pegging the holding the awning in the corners at the caravan side and then take the poles down - the awning isn't going anywhere, as it's still pegged in the corners away from the caravan.

Once you have done all that, remove the corner pegging at the far end and pull the awning roof out of the awning channel and onto the floor (preferably from the end that will leave the wind behind you). You can then remove the pegging from the remaining corner.   

The important thing is to make sure that, at all times, there are enough pegs still holding the awning so that you cannot lose control.

i once had an expensive accident dropping the awning in high winds.

Since that day, when the winds are up, I dismantle the frame totally before pulling out the pegs.

Managed to get it down without any mishaps ,thanks mainly due to a lovely couple on site who had done theirs earlier,thanks for all your advice

on one holiday i had to ask for help taking down the awning.about three times i have helped others in high winds.i always leave one guy rope fixed in the centre until its nearly down to stop it going over the top.
