Hi,

I'm looking to upgrade my smaller caravan to something around 17ft.

I've looked at a few including
1996 swift challenger 490lx (beautiful but damp)
1996 lunar premier 516 5 berth
1996 abbey country 4berth - small bit of damp

Have arranged to also look at a
Unsure of year coachman mirage 500/5se
Bessecar 550
1998 coachmans vision

My main question is that aside for checking everything is working etc and for dampness is there any particular makes to avoid and particular issues to look for on particular types of vans?

I've been caravaning for around 2 years so still quite new to this t have been looking a lot onto the dampness and how to fix etc.

Thanks for any replies.

walk away as it could cost as much to repair as you paid.there are dry vans out there.

For that age you're looking at there are plenty of dry vans out there, it's not an overnight look, but you'll find one.It just takes time.
We did a big damp repair on our first van, we did it and did it well, but it's hard work and sometimes a bit soul destroying , if I could of gone back in time, and knew about this excellent and informative site,it's unlikely we would of made the same mistakes, and we would of avoided buying a damp one altogether.

The road can be tough and rough, but what you put in you get back 10 x more.
