Not happy! As I understand it, for warranty and insurance purposes our caravan needs to be serviced by an authorised Swift dealer. There is only 1 around here. Last year and this they have filled the water tank and not drained it, OH remebered to query this after last year when we found we had lugged a full tank away on holiday. Apparently this is "standard procedure" and we need to ask if we want the water drained. The engineer told us that he always goes away in his caravan with a full tank of water to save filling up on site.
Is this utterly ridiculous or are we wrong? Also the outside lockers were left unlocked and the handbook not stamped or dated.

hes talking rubbish in my book, all the handbooks i have read including one yesterday says drain before towing.apart from the weight gained and the instability of the water sloshing about.the fittings of a caravan are not designed to the carry water on tow.this includes the toilet flush tank.ask swift if you can use a mobile engineer from this school.
You can have it serviced by ANY engineer (mobile inc)/workshop that is Caravan council aproved, this WILL NOT affect your warranty.
People are led to believe they have to take it to a main dealer, this is not so. If there is any warranty work to do then yes it will have to go back to a main dealer for most things other than Alko warranty work which I think others can do if they are aproved by Alko.
if you use a mobile engineer I read somewhere that to preserve the warranty he has to be registered with swift OR you send them a copy of the service report, ask the quesrion of Ash or Andy on SWIFT TALK website and they will set you right
Hi What year is your sterling? If its like ours there is a big blue valve just underneath by the door to empty the on board tank Also you can empty the entire system by lifting the yellow valve (ours is by the Alde boiler under the bed )I always empty the tank for travelling but confess I leave the system primed over the summer as it takes two full barrells to fill it all up again...
