I know that there are some real experts here and we are after some advice on caravans to suit us. Its so difficult to trawl through 'vans without a clue if its suitable!
What we would like.
5 berth (6 at push but weight an issue but we are only a 4 person family so this isn't an issue just an option)
Fixed rear bunks
Side single dinette
Lightweight (our towing vehicle is a Laguna estate. We are looking at MLTPM of approx 1200/1250)
We've been looking at a few dealers for 'van examples and the fixed rear bunks are our favoured layout, I'm yet to find a search engine where you can search by MLTPM so we struggle to work out if a 'van is a match when surfing the web.
I know autotrader you can search by weight so that could be an option. We had the end bunk layout, was an Ace Jubilee Courier, can't remember the weights of tho as it's a few years ago since we had it. I know there are quite a few makes that do that layout

Lunar zenith 6 , side dinette and rear fixed bunks un laden 1060kg mtplm 1350kg , they don't make them anymore but they went from 2003 until 2008/9 I think.
We had a zenith four, very nice van.

Adopt a rescue, rescue dogs make great pets, don't support puppy farms.
The road can be tough and rough, but what you put in you get back 10 x more.
We are a family of four (two small boys) and my wife insisted from the start that she wanted a fixed rear bunk layout for the kids as she said it would be a complete pain in the butt having to set up the side dinette bunk option every night, having now owned our six berth fixed rear bunk caravan for just a year now i can honestly say it was the best choice as that side bunk takes ages to set up, just what you want at the end of the day !!. Another point to look at with the side dinette/bunk option is that the top bunk is not that sturdy, ok whilst your child is young but not too safe as the child gets older, i think there is a seven stone max weight limit on them.
Our caravan weighs in at 1450 fully laden and i tow it with a four wheel drive so this may be a little too heavy for your car but i would certainly check to see if your laguna can tow this kind of weight, if it will i'd lean towards the six berth, its a lot easier at bedtime.
We have an adria Altea 542uk can with MTPLM of 1300kgs and towed this with a Ford Focus Estate 2.0 tdci (20056) with no problems. Its a brilliant van but hard to find, the newer models are much easier to get hold of but are more costly.
Its the rear bunks that sold it for us. happy searching
