Coming up M1a few weeks ago a bit of road debris hit the front of the van- just beneath the gas locker . It left a nasty crack, though luckily it didn't let water ion anywhere important.. The crack opened up when I towed last week-end in high winds . For various reasons, we don't insure our van and I didn't want to go via car insurance either. We got a recommendation via the guy we use for small repairs. Well he spent four hours filling ,strenghening and spraying this . Says it will be as strong as ever . You can't see that it has been repaired except inside the gas locker where he had to put a bracket. He also rubbed down and sprayed a bump on the back. all our neighbours who came out for a neb where as impressed as us . He also travelled over from Barnsley to sheffield to do it on a saturday.
Interestingly ,he said that main dealers would not bother doing this sort of repair -would do it as an insurance job and replace the whole front, probably at a cost of £1500. Feel very grateful that there are still skilled people like Dave about.
Wonder how far he would travel ours is in Pickering some kind person has scratches it on the side maybe worth a call with offer of travel expenses and time paid
Would you know if Dave is on holiday? I have rung him a few times both on the land line number and his mobile and left messages for him to ring me back. But so far had no contact from him.
Well thats it, the guy who has been praised so highly in this thread obviously does not need anymore business. I have lost count of how many messages I have left on his mobile and land line and have emailed him and not had a reply to any of my messages. Dam frustrating though. Sod him.
Can anyone recommend anyone else who may be able to carry out a couple of small paint repairs to the door of my caravan?

Have you tried your local branch of 'Chips away' or Dentmaster?
I have used both in the past for small dents and scratch repairs and one even managed to repair the casing on my mobility scooter when i dropped down a curb which turned out to be alot deeper than i originally thought it was!
Chips away will match up paint on site and are fairly reasonably priced, about £80 for respraying a door cill when my draughter caught it with her stiletto heels whilst getting out of the car, leaving a deep scratch.
The man was very helpful and did a wonderful job, and you could never tell it had ever been repaired afterwards. Phone numbers are online or in yellow pages.

made a right pigs ear of my car door when someone scratched it badly.instead of repairing the scratch they spoiled all the door completely.
