I wonder if anyone can help me with a small matter. I purchased a new to us Bailey Ranger 1999/2000 a few weeks ago. It came with a Sunncamp, Ultima 390 awning that the previous owner said he never used so couldnt say for sure if all the pieces were there. Well, it turns out everything is there and in good condition other than the 4 fibreglass poles, these are missing. I have googled this and it seems it may be a littkle tricky getting these poles. Does anyone have any ideas? Does anyone have this awning and can perhaps tell me the length and diameter of the poles?
I had a need for some poles for my Sunncamp awning. I contacted Sunnflair and the service was little worse than non existent. I received a mail from them saying that they were unable to help and to go back to where I bought the awning from. After leaving several messages with the dealer who did not have the decency to call back, I eventually bought Vango poles and trimmed them as necessary, job done. I would not buy another Sunncamp product again. Poor finish, weak seams, very bad stitching together with non existent customer care seems to sum up Sunncamp these days.
Thanks for response. Yeah, thats what I had heard about Sunncamp. Seems only option is to try and find some generic poles elsewhere. Will have to try and find correct length of the missing poles though.
Hi Clever. Thanks for the offer, not sure of the diffeences between the 260 and the 390 but would appreciate if you would kindly measure the length and diamter of one of your fibreglass poles.
EDIT: Actually Clever, I think your awning is smaller than mine.
ask them to post it wont cost a lo, check ebay and look for a damaaged 390.
I was on a site 3 weeks ago and was talking to a guy that had a burgandy 390 it came free with his van but was ripped and the zip was goosed he said he was going to lob it in the bin when he got home.....hindsight eh would of been perfect
Try Towsure.
Give them ALL measurements, particularly the pole diameter!
They are friendly and helpful - and they do refunds if you got the sizing wrong :-)
Thanks for the replies. May give that a go Bessie. In the mean time, is there any chance anyone can measure one of their 260/390 fibreglass poles? Would be much appreciated.
Richard, I have just got out our 260 poles out for you and they are made up from 8 sections.
The bottom 3 sections are approx 12mm diameter and the top 5 sections are approx 10mm diameter. I had never noticed the different sizes before, but I assume the top ones need to flex a little more.

When assembled the total length is 393.5cm
Let me know if you need any other dimensions.
That's great Clever! Very kind of you taking the time to measure it up. That's weird that the poles on the same length are different diamaters. That may hinder me somewhat but I will see what I can find. Thanks again, you have made things a lot easier for me.
Well, had a quick price up of what I would require and it's gonna come in around £50. Not great. It's a pain that that 2 different sizes of pole sections are used. I suppose I would have 2 find metal caps that would accomodate 10mm on one end and 12mm on the otherif that is possible.
I'm sure you would be fine having all the sections the same diameter. I'm not totally sure why they use two sizes, but they are both very similar in size.
