no not really it is mostly to give the battery a boost charge when off.you can buy intelligent car chargers that can boost as required.a car charger is liable to overcharge in full time use.

When mine went i bought a smart charger,it is now wired in and it was an easy job to do.Listerdiesel on here said as well as charging a charger, must be able to cope with what i think he called "floating" ie cope when power is taken from the battery.
Hi We have an adria that does not have an on board charger anyway, I have a smart charger hooked up and charge the battery using this whilst away, otherwise used to just take the normal car battery charger and plug in overnight to charge the battery, as needed for the mover.
