Used my new awning for the first time a couple weeks ago and although happy with everything, it leaked in the stitching in at least two areas within the roof. Has anyone else experienced this? When I contacted the Ebay shop which I will not mention (YET) they just said it's normal "you need some seam sealer" ! This may be true but when you buy a new awning does everyone else expect it not to leak? Or am I being too fussy ?!!!!

Strange as it sounds, it's quite common for a new awning to leak. Although it does depend on what material it is made from. You should find that the seams will now start to tighten up and the problem may well go away on it's own.

Some seam sealer should help sort it.

Otherwise you could always quote sale of goods act and ask for your money back.

Hi we had the problem with all of our awnings including our encore, we just used some waterproofing spray and it solved the problem. As others have said I think that it is fairly common until the stitching expands. It certainly didn't put us off our encore in any way

Yes this is normal, had exactly the same issue with our new acrylic 390.Had to wait though for a rain storm to strike before the material became waterproof!
