After a brief working trip, we've just driven from south Devon to North Lincolnshire. We passed dozens of caravans and out of curiosity I looked to see who was driving. I saw just the one woman towing and her passenger was also female. When we tow we share the driving. It seems fairer and safer as neither has to plod on tired. I recently towed home solo on a 6.5 hr journey. Yes it was ok with stops but would have been nicer to have someone to share it with. Oh and no, nobody helped me hitch up - not even to give any guidance. 100% all my own work aided by a couple of sighting canes, one tied to the towball, one to the hitch.
------------- Turning to caravanning from camping due to health. Got the van May 2011 - see images!
We share too. Swap every 2 hours. Love to watch peoples faces as she successfully reverses onto the pitch. When we were in Italy, some of the local men had apoplexy!!!!!
i do all the driving as im used to driving long periods and the one time i let the OH drive she got herself stuck in a country lane, even after being told not to go off the route id given.

I'd love to tow but i'm on a post '97 licence and the mathematics and legalities of weights and such is putting us off. I'd hateto get pulled over and be in the wrong.
I am the only one who tows in our family, in fact DH only agreed to get the van on the understanding I would do it.
Now to put the cat amongst the pigeons- are most caravanners a bit chauvanistic or stuck in the past as the fact I'm the only one does seem to attract a lot of attention. I tend to get an audience and people will ask how comes its me.
i do all the towing as my OH only passed is driving test in 2001 so until he takes the extra test for his licence it's up to me. I do get some funny looks and quite often i'm asked why i tow, even some women find it unusual, but hey thousands of people tow, so if they can so can I. Carole
wish my OH would take her turn at the wheel, she loves driving but just will not have a go with the tin tent hooked up behind ,get's me mad coz i know she could do it.
,she wants us to take the tin tent to france, at minute i'm refusing as i feel it's a long way for 1 person to drive, if she was willing to share the driving it wouldn't be a problem
------------- no tin tent outings booked as yet ,just another cruise in Sept' booked so far
I tow I love it , but ive always had horses so towing was required for shows, so it just seemed natural when we got the van to tow it, we both take turns but I'm more comfortable if I tow, not that I don't trust hubby it's just I like to be in control lol.

Adopt a rescue, rescue dogs make great pets, don't support puppy farms.
The road can be tough and rough, but what you put in you get back 10 x more.
Must admit hubby tows, dunno why, he just tends to drive when we go out with or without the van, I have towed it to a site once though and it was easy, I couldn't tell the van was on the back.
For those who've never tried it or hubby's wont 'let' them you really should give it a go, there may be a time when you actually "need" to tow it, your partner could break their arm or something & it's best to have a bit of experience.
I tow and I'm not a youngster. I do it mainly because I don't panic I just take my time and don't worry . I do most of the driving though OH didn't learn to drive until he was in his late 40 s .
I love to have a go at reversing when we are on site. We do have a motor mover though.
Our only problem is I am the map reader as well so while I am driving I can't follow a map and this does stress me. This is when I make OH drive.
