Hi,
We recently bought a Fleurette Tamaris 42 pop top caravan and need a motor mover. We live on a very steep bank and it's almost impossible to get the van in the drive. I've emailed several companies to enquire about fitting a motor mover and all have said they can't do it due to ground clearance and the tyre size. We've previously had an Ego Titanium fitted to a Pennine Fiesta and didn't think getting a mover to fit would be an issue.
Can anyone advise me of the mover they have had fitted to their Fleurette or Trigano pop top? Any ideas of any companies that might be able to help me?

There was a long thread recently about the winch idea, and the gist of the advice from engineers etc was that it was potentially very dangerous & not a good idea. That thread recommended movers that managed steep slopes. I can’t do a link to it, sorry.
Thanks for all your replies. The main problem is the steep bank we live on and the angle needed to get the van in the drive. I've spoken to several motor mover fitters and none are willing to fit a mover due to the ground clearance on the van. Trigano themselves apparently fitted a Reich mover to their vans which I can still buy but can't find anyone to fit it. Thanks again.
Can you tell us what companies you've tried, so we know to discount them.

We have a Trigano 310 with a powrtouch evolution mover fitted, never had any problems with clearance but have never been up any really steep drives so don't know if this is much help
Midland Motor Movers was a no due to the ground clearance. I've tried lots of others and got the same response. I can get a Reich mover, which is apparently the best one for ground clearance but can't get anyone to fit it. Im very hesitant to self fit as I'm not sure what extras I need such as spacers or drop plates. Thanks for all your advice. It's really annoying as I've seen lots of these vans and similar with a mover fitted on them. Thanks again everyone
They have a great reputation for customer service, and I believe do specialised fitting kits which may solve your problem. They also sell direct with mobile fitters, so that may overcome dealing with the companies you've already spoken to.
If nothing else, they may give deeper insight into why you cannot fit a motor mover.
As to the motor mover, most, certainly Powrtouch range, will cope with a 1:4 (25%) slope, which is pretty damned steep!
Hi. I have a 2015 Trigano 380DD caravan that I bought used last year and it is fitted with a fully automatic Reich mover that works very well. The units are fitted to the front of the road wheels. I can attest to the issue of ground clearance being a fitting issue as I have to remove a road wheel temporarily to take the mover motors off for servicing by sliding them into the space vacated by the removed wheel rather than simply dropping them out. Having closely examined the rest of the installation, I really cannot see why fitting should be a huge problem to a commercial fitter as it appears to be fairly straightforward if the wheel is removed as described.
My Trigano was originally supplied by Campers & Leisure at St Leonards who probably organised the original fitting at supply to the first owner. Similarly, Three Shires Leisure in Hertfordshire specialise in small pop top caravans and may fit movers or at least tell you who might. A call to both may bear fruit for you.I

We have a Fleurette Tamaris and have an Powrtouch Evo Evolution mover on ours. We got a local independent company to fit ours though they had to do a "custom" fit. The wheels do rub on the housing of the rollers when they are engaged but that is mostly just noisy.
I had a power-touch mover on our Elddis 575 Affinity, unfortunately we had to replace it with a Reich.
It struggled to power the van onto our drive. which has a dropped curb and a slight incline over the tarmac pavement.The drive sprocket on one side of the van, kept sliding.After several attempts, the power-touch couldn't adjust it tight enough, for it to grip the tyre. Every time we returned home, we had to get help to push the van over the pavement.Maybe the van to heavy for the van
So decided enough was enough, and replaced it, It is relatively new , still under warranty,Good for a lighter van or twin axle.
