Don't know for sure but some taps have micro switches in them which switch the pump on when you open the tap.

Have you tried this?

If that does not work, try connecting a 12v source directly to the pump to see if that is the problem.

a lot of caravans work on a pressure switch system, when you open a tap ,the pressure drops , closing the switch ,and powering the pump . The pressure switch is usually situated on the inside of the van, close to the water inlet, you need to confirm which system you have first. check for the pressure switch (a small white plastic housing with a knurled adjusting knob on top) or check the taps for wires going to microswitches?
