are pnumatic tyres anygood for a jockey wheel i have been told to stay clear of them as they seem to lose pressure and need constantly pumping up, the reason i am asking is i have a solid plastic wheel on but it doesnt seem to run very free when im using my motor mover, it seems to be putting a lot of strain on the jockey wheel stem as if its trying to bend it and i dont want it tobreak or bend or the caravan front (a frame) could finish up on the floor
I changed mine from solid to pneumatic when I had a mover fitted, my advice is to get the best you can. Preferably an ALKO one, the cheaper ones are not up to the task. Been there, done that. The two arms holding the shaft for the wheel bent out of true when using the mover (cheapy)

I changed the jockey wheel to a pneumatic purely because the solid wheel and motor movers did dot go well together. There are some very poor/low quality pneumatic wheels out there, some on plastic rims and some on metal. I replaced my Winterhoff solid with a Winterhoff pneumatic and it has made things so much easier particularly on gravel. There is no problem with a pneumatic provided that is of good quality and because it is thicker and larger in diameter than the plastic wheel, make certain that it can be lifted without interfering with the brake cables etc.

Totally agree. Get the best you can justify/afford. I bought a cheap pneumatic one and broke it first time out! I have a BPW chassis but found the Alko JW fitted just fine and works well. When I store my van next winter I'll probably put the old original solid one back on to preserve the tyre.
i'm only wanting to change the wheel not the handle and stem as it is a 2009 model (compass)and the stem has got a nose weight gauge incorporated in it
Just have to make sure the side arms are set wide enough apart to fit a pneumatic tyre and shaft size is the same. Couldn't do that with mine as solid wheel was much narrower than pneumatic.

Once upon a time, I overheard two gentlemen on a pich opposite ours extolling the benefits if a pneumatic tyre for use with a motor mover. I changed - they were and are right - as are these posters. Do it!
i got one from discover £25.nothing wrong with it.i had to take it off as it was really good in use with the mover,much better than a solid wheel.it was after hooking up onto the cars towball where the problem came in.because it was so large and in a straight line i could not get it out from under the A frame.each time i had to remove it and put it in the car.looks good on the trailer now.
