Hi all . I have a satellite set up but the kit seems to be growing too much to take away so I am looking at the tv digital aerial setup. I have a tv with freeview so now I need a aerial and do I need a booster or what about a signal meter can you guys guide me with the equipment preferably off ebay so if you look on it can you link me to it.
Thankyou
Steve
Does your caravan have an aerial fitted? If so is it a mushroom type? For the first 7 years of my caravans life the Mushroom on the top was purely there for display purposes it was as much use as a chocolate fireguard as an aerial, as a result I bought a wide band aerial from Maplins and a pole to clip on the side of the van from the caravan dealers. Then all of a sudden when the analogue signal had been turned off the mushroom on the top of the van sprung into life and since then I have not needed the larger external directional aerial. So the moral is to first of all try what is fitted to the van.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
caravan aerial
I use one of these fixed on the jockey wheel. Its only £30 and does a good job. Just point it the same way as everyone else on site. It dismantles for easy storage.
I find the omnidirectional on the van works very well, however as I back-up I have one these kits here which works well in locations the vans built-in aerial doesn't.
Neat and compact to store, the mast clamps to the side of the van and is lightweight and unobtrusive.
Personally I find a signal strength meter is a benefit too as digital services are 'fussy' on the signal quality and a decent meter will allow better alignment of the aerial.
I use a Fringe signal meter; there are others but these are rated as being pretty much the best of the 'DIY' type meters.
By the way .... there is no such thing as a digital aerial. That is a marketing trick to try and get people to replace their perfectly good aerials because of the switch-over.

Yes, I noticed that as well - last time out, I actually got freeview channels! I was amazed but I think its because, since the analogue signal was switched off, they've been able to increase the power of the digital signal (before, it would have interfered with the analogue signal).

Well I took the and bought this item 120863885095 from ebay so I hope it will be ok. Does anybody know if you can get a battery operated signal booster as I think that will be next on my list.

Steve
The VP2 amplifier from Status, link here is a 12-24v DC powered amp and specifically designed for the model Status aerial you've linked to from fleabay.
I'd try your aerial first though to see how you get on. Digital signals are very fussy when it comes to being 'boosted'.
