Hi

I just need a second opionion please!
We've got a quote for a Powertouch HD3 fitted for £750 to our Swift, direct from them.
This sounds fine to us - has anyone had one at a better price?
its the same cost as an Enduro which we were also looking at, but are encouranged by the 5 year labour and parts guarantee.
Good idea or not?
Thanks guys.x

I cannot vouch for the price or the specific model, but on a previous van I had a powertouch fitted.. I think it was 2? It was great no issues. Their service was great, fully endorse the brand.

I did plan to get one fitted on my new van, but am having a few issues with the new Lunar, so will hold fire at this point?

Thanks - did you have the powerbar fitted, to allow engagement from either side? I can get that for £769 fitted all in from Riversway Leisure.
So Confused!!

Yes good price, we paid £850 last year for our HD mover. Great bit of kit and personally I would have the powerbar fitted so you can engague both rollers from one side...........just makes it a bit quicker and easier to use.

Good choice and you will love it! Its the best remote controlled toy you will have......when I got it fitted the neighbours came out to see me use it the first time as they had no idea you could remote control a caravan! Makes getting it into our storage space, hitching up and lining up the Alko wheel lock soooo easy!

We ran ours fine on a 75ah battery but have recently upgraded to a 100ah one for other reasons!

Good to know about the battery, ours is 85ah and we were concerned we'd need a bigger one.

85ah is fine and is the min that powrtouch require in their spec's. Providing you aren't intending to spend days rallying without EHU (i.e draining the battery) the 85ah will be fine and you will have no problems with it.

quick question re powrtouch. I picked our new van up and used the mover for the first time to negotiate 8.5ft driveway entrance and it was excellent. However, it doesn't go in exactly a straight line - it veers off to the left slighlty. it is easy to adjust but i am assuming one roller is turning slighlty quicker than the other. Id there an easy fix or do i need to go back to dealer?

Two things to check:

1) Is the ground level or sloping? If its not level the van will drift down hill due to the jockey wheel

2) Is it the jockey wheel causing this problem? Don't forget that the mover just turns the wheels and the jockey wheel will also cause the van to change direction. Our new van has a solid jockey wheel and this causes the van to go all over the place at our storage yard where the ground is very uneven!

failing the above it might be an issue with the mover as you mention. Just phone powrtouch direct (as the 5yr warranty is with them and not your dealer) and they will assist you on the phone and if they think there is a problem arrange for an engineer to come to your home or storage site.

To add to dazzer252 a solid jockey wheel is less forgiving than one with a pneumatic tyre in my opinion. Please also make sure that the jockey wheel is raised to ensure that it has the freedom to rotate fully - free from the 'neck' of the jockey wheel upper structure.

This is an innate characteristic of all the movers I know of; they are not individually speed controlled and if one wheel encounters more rolling resistance that the other, then the one having the easier life turns faster and the van veers. Resistance from differing slopes, terrain, stones in the path, etc, all can effect it. There is nothing the maker can do to alter that; I counter it with 'leaning' against the corner of the van to resist the swing, finding that easier for minor deviations than messing about with the handsets buttons. It all comes second nature quite quickly. Adding the necessary refinement to achieve load independent speed control would add greatly to the cost and complication and for most buyers I suspect would be a cost not warranted.
