Congratulations on your new caravan. I would like an Amara but will have to wait a little until we can afford to change our Mini Genius. Will be watching this thread with interest.

Hope you have many happy outings in her.

Hi,

We've got an Amara 450/2 similar to yours - We love it, we've had it since new in 2006 and wouldn't be without it.

She tows well previously with an automatic Mondeo 2.0 and now with an X-Trail 2.2 diesel.

The only problems we've had is with regard to taps over winter - we've had to replace both the shower tap and the bathroom tap - May have been our fault though !!!

Hope you enjoy your new van - keep it clean and tidy and she'll last a long time and always look good.

Hi Rod thanks for the reply.
You say it may have been your fault why?

Looks from the lack of replies like a rare van, or it has shy owners

Funnily enough we have just bought one, the Festival special addition so are looking forward to getting out in it, how have you found yours?

Anybody know what Amara means? Or is it just made up?

I have got a 775cm NR full cotton awning that will fit it if you need one, going for any very reasonable offer because its taking up storage space. We are quite near to you in Derby.  Sorry if this sounds a bit cheeky, but it just might be the bargain you are looking for, and i thought i would give you first chance before sticking it on Fleabay!

We have owned a Coachman Genius SE in the past and really loved it, Top quality vans and very stable on the road when matched with the right towcar

Im not sure how the contact details work on here, but could email or phone you with more details if intrested.

Amara has a number of meanings from unfading, eternal, Love (from the latin amare) Immortal, peaceful and restful to bitter or the bitter one.  Depends which part of the world you are from. Guess that Coachman would not have meant bitter so go out in your new van and make your own mind up from this list. My money would be on you deciding on peaceful or restful

Phil

LOL well good on you! But a) Our measurement is 825 (I'm busy noting down all the details just now, a real mountain of new weights and dimensions) b) OH is not a lover of full awnings. I'm guessing the dimensions have changed as surely a 775 would not fit but not being familiar with full awnings are you saying there is some flexibility?

Cheers Phil, very interesting, think I'll ditch bitter   (except in a pint glass) and go for unfading, peaceful love I think!

We don't get her for a couple of weeks so can hardly wait. it's the first time we have gone for new but the consensus seems to be positive about the build quality with Coachman.

Thanks for that, sounds like those Coachman people gave it some thought, rather better than the usual 280, 450, 640 type of thing!

If it turns out to be unfading and eternal we'll never need another, mind you 33 would do as well!
