Hi, just bought our 'new to us' back from MIL's to use this weekend.
It's the first time we've used it but we're having a few problems.
Heater - blowing cold, any ideas? (Truma ultraheat)
Hot water - don't understand the dial 0 or gas flame and temp settings. We want to use it on the electric but could it be that it's just gas?
There's 2 switches behind the fuse box one says water and one says heat. I've put the the heat one on (is this right?) but the water one trips the mains switch.
Any help gratefully received!
I'm so disheartened. All these things were working when we tested it before buying.
Thanks

Heater - blowing cold, any ideas? (Truma ultraheat) See this post Urgent advice need on heater problem! it's probably the room stat ( temperature sensor ) . Did you turn the grey ring of the wall dial to 500 , 1000 , or 2000 and allow the heater to heat up before turning the fan on .
On the gas dial 0 means gas is off , flame means gas on ( you should get a small green light on the dial when the gas has lit ) ( if you don't get the light turn the dial to 0 and then back to flame to restart ignition process ).
Switches , the 'heat' one is for the space heater electric element . If the water one trips the mains, the element in the water heater may have gone or over heated and tripped out . I can't remember how to reset the heater , but hopefully someone will come along in a moment that does know .
do you think our system is gas only? Not if it has a switch that says water and trips the mains when turned on .
If you send me a email ( see Link below ) and let me know the year of your caravan i may be able to find a sales brochure and email it to you , they normally have some useful info in them .
element on the water heater may have failed.try it gas for a few hours the retry on electric.if it still trip a new element is required.if the water heater is not getting water this could also trip the element supply.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
Are you sure the water heater boiler is FULL of water?
Can you get COLD water coming through the HOT tap?
Make sure Hot Water Boiler Drain tap is closed.
There could be a reset button for the boiler if it has tripped elec.
Contact seller for help if you get stuck, they will be familiar with the system.
Thanks Wizard, got it thanks! Def dual fuel on the water so that's good.
Thanks Mike, will double check all that when we use it tomorrow - still going to go as we can manage without hot water for a weekend but obv. want it to work!

Okay, we've used the van this weekend and the heater and water are still not right.
Water - kitchen tap not working, pump not kicking in it's when turned on but works when the bathroom tap is on. On the plus side the hot water works- Yayy!! I think the taps are microswitched and you can hear a click, it does gurgle a bit and we ran it through two lots of water to see if there was an airlock.
Does your tap look like this Click_here , if it does it sounds like the micro-switch is faulty or the wires in the top of the tap have broken ( this is what happened to my kitchen tap , just re-soldered them ) Doh , just spotted your link to the tap ..
The Elite tap has a few recurring problems, 1) The main one is the spout splitting, this happens normally after winter. To avoid the problem the water system must be drained and the tap left open in a central position. 2) The microswitch can fail and need to be replaced. 3) The tap can leak from the main body.
Replacing Spout
This is an easy job, all you need is a small flat and a Philips screwdriver.
1) Remove the hot and cold indicator with the small flat screwdriver. 2) Undo the Philips screw and remove the tap top. 3) Squeeze the two small plastic clips inwards pull off top part of tap body. 4) The spout can then be removed, it may take some wiggling. 5) Reverse steps 4-1.
Replacing Microswitch
1) Remove the hot and cold indicator with the small flat screwdriver. 2) Undo the Philips screw and remove the tap top. 3) Remove microswitch from fixing, disconnect from 12v wire, This is not polarity sensitive, it doesn't matter which way the wires go on. 4) Reverse steps 3-1
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
wizard - the tap which is faulty is a fold down type. The one you've linked is like the bathroom one but that's okay
michael - we did leave the tap open in the central position so don't think it's split. Looks like the microswitch then? Would that tie in with the symptoms do you think? re heater I thinks it has a fault, it sometimes won't come on at all even when it's really cold.
(sorry for the late reply just spent 4 hours at a&e!)

Heater - The heater works with gas, however it has a mind of it's own on the electric. It comes on and goes of at will. Any ideas anyone?
Thanks.
Sounds the same problem as we had last week. Got the van back from the dealer yesterday and it was a faulty room thermostat. One thing to try is with the heater switched on turn the thermostat dial starting at the lowest number.....at somepoint you should hear a faint click to show it has turned the fire on. Ours wasn't doing this and would only work on occasion when set to the highest number (9). As mentioned in the other thread there is also two internal stat's which might be the problem....I think you will need to get an engineer to look at it. Thankfully ours was done under warranty but I can't see it would have a cost a huge amount to get done.
