Our caravan was stolen today from the Wigan Area, By travellers (we suspect)
They have been staying for the last month a few miles away, and today our caravan was stolen in broad daylight, and a witness saw them tie it to the back of a pick up to get around the hitchlock.
Funnily enough the travellers left the site today for elsewhere.
If anyone sees it about I would be grateful if you would let me or the police know, they might be in the same area still as it only happened this aft.
5 Day Holiday was planned for thursday so that has now been cancelled :(
Sorry to hear of your loss Peewee, what a really mean thing to do. Our van is stored in France and a couple of weeks ago we had a call from the storage site owners to say that the lights had been stolen from the back of the van as had they from a couple of other vans stored there (all older types - ours is an '89 Silverline) funnily enough travellers were staying in the area the week before - Hmmmmmmmmmm
We now have to source replacements before we go away which means a day trip to France to see if the wiring has been cut and measure up for replacement fittings, not worth claiming on insurance as the excess is probably in excess of the cost of replacing them.
Damn I could swing for people who do things like this, be it a whole caravan or just parts.

I have three sides, left, right and wrong - which one are you on?
does make you wonder about these so called travellers a few weeks ago in our local tv news and local paper some travellers where forced to move on by the local council they left behind thousand of pounds worth of rubbish to be removed and 2 yes 2 destroyed caravans wonder if they got new caravans and where from

It really winds me up, next week they will be on the TV or Radio saying how hard done to they are.. and how they have no where to live.
the police are no better, I have been unfortunate enough to have had 3 dealings with the polie as a vitim of crime in the last 2 years, on every occasion they hve been worse than useless.
Today, I had some stroppy cow on the phone who made me feel Like i was a criminal....
Because I was away the neighbour reported the theft, when i alled she assured me they had been looking around for it for the last hour, I asked how on earth they could when they didnt even know the make or model!
They also assured me that somene would be around to make a report, its now 20:40pm and no sign of them.
Oh Peewee, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. What is wrong in this country that all of a sudden there no longer seems to be any sense of decency? Hope you get it sorted soon.
PeeWee-I too am very sorry to hear about your loss, BUT, just think about it, after those dirty ******** have been in it, you're probably better off getting what you can from Insurance. I certainly wouldn't like to use one after they've been in it!
Thats terrible news Pee Wee you would think in this day and age with the amount of CCTV cameras etc etc it would be easy enough for the police to pinpoint a group of travellers and where they are heading, it just makes me so cross that they come and just take what we all work so hard for, to me the police are just too busy these days watching out for tax disc evaders parking offenders etc to worry about other crimes, we have noticed these past few days they are up and down all day long ticking off folk parked near to our shop, the amount of time they are spending on that is amazing yet with something like you have experienced they always seem too busy.
What colour is it ? anything to identify it any more.

I'm so so sorry to hear your news, the thieving ba*&^%$ds!!! You not had it 5 minutes either !!! Do you have any pics? We got back from the Brean Sands meet on Sunday and within hours of us getting our van back on the drive a bloke had stopped in a pick up and asked Mark if it was for sale and would we take £1000 for it !!! Mark suspected he was a traveller by the way he was checking out security devices etc but he told him it was riddled with damp and not for sale. He has now parked the car bumper to bumper with the van and dare not move it and I 'm so scared it's gonna get nicked I sleep with the window open (next to drive) in case I hear anything.
Was back on phone to police at about 7:30, they said a member of the public has spotted it in pemberton ( a suburb of wigan about 2 miles away) at 7pm, she told them she was calling the police ad they scaprpered with it, seems like they still ait got the hitchlock off and are dragginf it round with some kind of chain.
Funnily enough the place where it was spotted is 200 yards from a travlleres permanenent site. Been down to have alook, but I aint risking driving onto their site on my own.
Called police back and asked them to check it out, STILL waiting for them to come and see us.. sometime tonite they reckon! the bloody van is still in the area, and I feel useless
been driving about last hour or so looking for it.
Really p*ssed off, not too bothered about the van, but been working on the boat all weekend to get it ready for the holiday, and now its off!!!
thanks for all your kind words, and sorry to go on about it.
Hi Peeeeeeeeeeeee ....... so sorry to hear about your van hunny - not sure I'd want a stolen van back, you don't know what has happened to it .......... and you stay away from the site ......... xxx
REALLY sorry to hear about your C/Van. Robbing Bs. Hope their bloody hands drop off. We are off to Glynn's NE. meet tomorrow, glad we are going, in the local paper tonight it says 3000 Travellers (scrounging theiving sods) are heading this way, arriving Thursday, some farmer has rented out his land to them, so they can have a gathering to have a Horse fair. (and nick a few Caravans while they are here in the area)
EVERYONE be warned, DON'T GO NEAR RIBBY HALL AT Kirkham near Blackpool, they are in the next field.
Really hope you either get it back quickly, or get the insurance money.
Take Care and my best regards

G & T, if you were offering
The police have finally come round about 5 mins ago, they are going to go visit 3 of the known sites in wigan to see if they can see anything.
In 2 minds at the moment, I want it back now, so our holiday is not ruined , but then agin I want it to remain missing and collect the insurance.
problem is I blame my bloody self, we had it out at the weekend at our house to clean and have an over ccarpet fitted, the Mrs said on sunday why dont we put it bak in storage, I said no pint we using it thursday, and then it gets nicked on tuesday
The mrs dont blame me one bit to be fair.. but i cant help thinking if only .....
