One of the first ever caravans that was built for the upper classes nearly 90 years ago and described as a 'drawing room on wheels' has sold for twice its estimate, fetching £11,500 at auction.
The caravan’s windows are leaded and inside luxuries include a gramophone, stove, gas lighting, oak furniture and even a fire extinguisher.
Rob Hubbard, from auctioneers Bonhams, said: 'It really is like a drawing room on wheels and would have been available only to the rich who had cars that were able to pull it ... inside it is real 1920s luxury"
There is a curtained-off lavatory, a beautifully upholstered sofa-bed, cushions, carpet, doilies, a wooden clock, display cabinet and Lissen wireless.
When it was built the two-sleeper would have cost £245, and there are thought to be fewer than 100 left.
The walls outside are made from artificial leather called Rexine and it was known as the 'Rolls Royce of Caravans'.
As well is two words!
